ok now...dont make fun I am only a lvl 10 cleric but i am feeling very frustrated in a group. There seems to be no targeting system. My eyes are constantly looking at the hp of the party members but then where to find them? I no there in that mess of mobs somewhere? What am I doing wrong? where is the targeting system IE: click on a party member in the group and auto target him/her and throw her a much needed heal. I also see that there is healing agro in the game, but every 1 is so into mass fighting no 1 looks out for the cleric. What kind of system is this? Its almost imposible for a cleric to heal an individual. Am I wrong?

    Press and hold CTRL. :)

Also it gets easier when you get other healing abilities than Healing Word.

You can change it to have party HP bars showing all the time, also constantly move, try circling around the fight to find the member that needs the heal. I use Healing Word all the time, been lv 60 for a couple months now and never have trouble.

Do not target. Spam Astral Seal (the very first spell you get) on enemies *around* your allies.

What I do to get better with Healing Word is keep an eye on the Tank at all times, when the tank takes damage then I will use one charge of Healing Word.

The whole time I am doing that I try to watch what the other three party members are doing and if I see one in trouble then they get a Healing Word.

If two party members are standing on top of eachother then Healing Word is useless, at higher levels they unwittingly cost you a Bastion of Health cooldown when a single charge of Healing Word would have sufficed. I have tried telling people not to stand on the tank but every now and then I will find one that just can't seem to break the habit. It doesn't really matter though since I can get through most of the content I do with healing to spare.

I take a similar amount of caution when it comes to using all of my encounters, dailies and at-wills. I won't put an Astral Seal on something unless somebody else is already hitting it or I will effectively just be pulling unwarranted aggro onto myself. I wait until the Tank has done his first few moves in a new pull before I will lay down a shield and let Healing Word rip. If it is a big pull with lots of adds I know that the instant I start healing I will cop aggro off whatever is not already engaged by someone else so often I will not put out the blue shield, with a close eye on who is in trouble I can usually keep their hands off their potions with Healing Word, Bastion of Health, Astral Seal, the already laid down Golden Astral Shield and that magical golden crust Sacred Flame provides with temporary hitpoints easily while attracting virtually zero aggro in the process.

Don't give up on Healing Word, that puppy is dynamite.

edit: Treatise on Healing Trickster Rogues

Trickster Rogue's are fun characters to heal and quite likely part of the reason Healing Word appears so difficult(along with Control Wizards).

More often than not what can happen is a TR gets in trouble and you let a Healing Word rip but it lands on the Tank who already has one. Not one to give up in a hurry, you chase after the TR determined to get that heal in. Just as you let your spell fly you see them chugging on a health potion.

The thing to understand about TR's is that they choose what to get themselves into and they do so because they reckon they can take it. Whenever they stuff up they will roll, usually twice and then check their health before coming back in for another go. When you see a TR get hit hard focus on them and if there is a clear shot take it but if not the key I believe is to make sure you catch them after the roll with a Healing Word. Once they realize you have their back then things can start to pick up a little.

CW's are more difficult because there is virtually no consistency to where they teleport to when they are in trouble. They are usually behind you so you have to turn your back on the fight just to find them. It is not impossible to blow all 3 charges plus a couple of pips before finally getting that Healing Word to stick. Fortunately where CW's are concerned, they seem to know what a blue circle is so more often than not you can get away with almost ignoring them as they will at best wind up in deep doo-doo only once or twice a run anyway. Lately I have been experimenting with burning a feated Hallowed Ground to heal an in trouble CW which is proving rather promising, the DPS boost from HG comes at a most opportune time since the other DPS party members will need to burn through whatever has overwhelmed the CW. It seems like an expensive heal to blow just because the CW takes a little damage but the advantages keep compounding since not only will it heal the CW it will also heal everyone else so turning your back on the tank and shielding the CW if things are very serious is pefectly fine, so long as you slip the tank a Healing Word charge as a going away present(this also sends a very clear message to the entire party "oi!, the real fight is over here").

Great Weapon Fighters I have decided just don't need me at all, they heal better than four Clerics put together.

lol, in PvP as well as PvE if my team mates constantly run behind me or in circles around me when I'm trying to heal them with healing word cause their health is low I simply stop ever trying or caring to heal them... I'll often write, the hardest place to get healed by a cleric is behind them (the players that run circles around you hoping you see them so they can get a heal make it as hard as possible to ever heal them, so just let those idiots die)

    Hi.

I posted some steps to clean up the UI and someone else's tip on how to change keybinding of your "lock target" function. Check out this page.
