Rubberbanding/Graphics Performance fixes for the DIYer

Hello all. I have been around during the beta days, and frankly as time has gone on, I noticed that the performance of Neverwinter has started to decline. At first I assumed it was having my video settings too high. Nope, even the lowest settings never recovered my FPS. I also figured that perhaps with the influx of players upon release were clogging my modest laptop's network and ram. Changing instances never helped.

So then instead of QQing, I decided to look into seeing if perhaps windows was doing the dirty work.

After googling "windows 7 3d performance" I stumbled upon one of the most excellent performance tweak guides on the Steam forums. Obviously this only works for Vista/Win7. However after implementing some changes outlined in here, I now run at a reliable 60fps, with settings all high but dynamic lighting and Anti Aliasing. Also the network tweaks have eliminated the rubberbanding I was experiencing.

I was not comfortable with messing with BIOS or Driver settings, however I did get the best gain by taking these suggestions.

Anyways the original post has an entire cornucopia of tweaks and whatnot you can try, so if you are having any Network or Graphics issues, give it a shot!

Great you have to become a programmer to get the game to work at a better level and its been what 5-6 months from beta launch and the actual programmers cant get it right yet. I have played many MMO's and this has to be the worst of what i have played . GW2 had some in the beginning but that was a few days and it was fixed.

There is no single tweak that gave me the end all performance boost. I tried all of the ones I was comfortable with. The windows ping spike fix did help, but adjusting the sound quality so that windows would stop reserving bandwidth to give to Windows Media Player also gave me a good network boost. Also disabling IPv6 features (I don't have a IPv6 compatible router anyways) helped.

It's about compounding gains to get the full boost to performance.

    Nice guide thanks!

I am not as techno-savvy as you but will try some of the simpler suggestions.
