So am I the only one that has noticed there is a new server option in the launcher called "Owlbear". Whats it for? Does anyone know? I can't find any info about it on the forums.

A couple weeks ago they said they would make a topic explaining the purpose of Owlbear.

It seems to be a secondary preview server which gets a patch the night before the live servers get it.

Im thinking its something to help ease the FotF launch. And will probably go away afterwards.

I recall when STO was doing its F2P conversions. They also had two test servers. Tribble, the default server and Redshirt was the special test server. Redshirt had all the main F2P changes, and Tribble had all the normal weekly updates that were happening independently of main content push. A short while after F2P launched Redshirt went away.

Not sure how its going to work here, or even if it will follow that same methodology. But it seems a safe guess.
