So what's the point of having Rough AD? (especially if they're auto-converted)

cmpinpointerror states in this thread that ...
Please check the currency tab (Gold coin) of your Inventory and your Rough Astral Diamonds will be there.
Please remember that they are automatically refined after a certain point into Astral Diamonds.
So... what's the point of Rough AD then - just so we can press a button???

It's capped at 24k being refined per day. That's the point of it.

It helps ensure that even if you've found a way to churn out AD in game... if you want that suit for half a million, you will either be VERY patient or just buy it through the market... using zen conversion.

    Ah - that's right, I'd forgotten that part - it's a cash spigot throttler.

All it really does is put a cap on how much u can make from dailies and leadership per day, als count in the skirmish event and stuff. Pretty much there to stop u from farming/glitching the things that give u rough ad. Not very often that youll get 24k rough ad per day though. Thats a lot of farming.

Also it there to stop people from using the AD hack to generate more then 24000 each day. You can do more then 24000 but it would send up a red flag.

Only time I ever hit the cap was during Lliira's event when I invoked at every opportunity, ran AD-yielding professions in all available slots, and whatnot to maximize AD gain so I could get zen for new character slots. I'm hardly a dedicated player, but the fact that AD gains had to be doubled for me to hit the cap says something about how high it really is.

That said, I didn't really understand the distinction between rough and refined AD at first (why bother -- couldn't we just have the refined form for simplicity?), then it occurred to me that it was to combat farming, as has been stated. I still think that's why it exists. I'm sure people hit the cap all the time with dedicated play, but it's still easy to stay under 24,000 AD per day.
