What's the deal with MMO's and dev's knee jerk nerf reaction to supposed OP classes

I've been playing MMO's since EQ Beta, been playing video games since the Vic 20, so i'm not new to this stuff.

Over the years the same thing happens again and again and again. The Dev's/Game Companies spend years developing and balancing a game/class. The Game launches, YAY, everyone is having fun with their classes. A couple months into the game the cries from the whiners reach the ears of the Dev's about an OP class (usually in PVP) and instead of gradually balancing out the game they do a scorched earth policy and pull a Braveheart on the rumored OP class.

I don't even PVP, i'm pretty much PVE only...how does this nerf of the TR help me and my group (if I can find a group that is, your grouping system is broken).

Why is it the first thing changed in a game is the Class and not the overall game mechanics. So very frustrating, I don't even know why I keep bothering to invest in MMO's. After being burned by Smedley and the destruction of my Creature Handler I should have known the Dev's will never change their stripes.

How about this, balance the PVP aspect of the game and leave PVE alone. I'm sure it would be possible to install nerfs that are PVP only and back away from PVE. I'm already squishy enough without a nerf to my DPS.

Guess i'll just stop spending money on Neverwinter and wait to get sucked in again with the Elder Scrolls MMO.

You haven't played many MMO's then.

GWF's are next on the chopping block and I am sure GF's too... If people think TR's were OP then they were just as OP.

LOL good one, troll. "Courage?" More like clueless, thoughtless, incomprehensible random nerfing to the entire class' mechanics and main features, instead of carefully playtesting and balancing.

Instead of gradually lowering Lurker's Assault bonus damage % values, they completely got rid of the original intent of the Daily and replaced it with a laughable new set of useless and inferior bonuses, and even stealth nerfed the duration of the Daily, which wasn't even stated in their patch notes. Instead of fixing Duelist's Flurry's random damage, they made the damage even more random and nerfed that PvE At-Will to the ground AGAIN (yes, they nerfed it twice now). Instead of changing Bait and Switch's ability to refill the entire stealth meter, they destroyed Rogues' primary class feature by nerfing our ability to use At-Wills in stealth.

The devs didn't even address the issue of permastealth because the main tools permastealth Rogues used aren't touched at all. They destroyed everything else but what was really causing all the QQ'ing in the first place. Meanwhile, they ignore the truly overpowered and broken classes/specs in PvP such as Sentinel GWFs and GFs stacking Regen gear and 7 Greater Tenebrous... simply because there wasn't enough whining about those classes due to the fact that those classes were the ones who teamed up to cry about Rogues being their only counter in PvP.

This is the work of an amateur developer who hastily panders to the forum trolls and whiners, without properly analyzing and playtesting their nerfs at all. More proof of Cryptic's incompetence when it comes to balancing and fixing this game.

Orrrrrr devs that don't play a TR and play something else and has the power to give him the victory, you dad gum well know they play their game. From the notes of this second nerf and major castration of the class and gutting it to its core, not one of them idiots play a TR.
