Companions; why only one?

Does anyone else think that it's rather silly to not be able to summon multiple companions?

I mean, why even have more than one active slot when you can only have one out at a time?

I guess it may not be, but I would love to have it explained if I'm not understanding something correctly, since I didn't know this and just recently bought a second companion thinking they could both be summoned...

With the ability to have 3 companions, you'd see a lot of people with 3 Ioun Stones of Allure.

Solo play while leveling would be mad easy.

You have more than one slot because there is more than one type, you might have a dps comp, and a healer comp. Not everyone plays the same, and some folks like to be ready for different situations.

Active slot companions keep their gear on . So its easy to call one while the other is training . Inactive companions can not wear gear so they have to be outfitted to use .

It would be far too overpowered to have multiple companions out at the same time. Plus every player in a party can have a companion out everywhere except in PvP so running around in dungeons with 5 players and 15 companions would be maddening.

And that's disregarding the stability issues which are sure to arise by having that many entities in such a confined area.

While I think the premise of having 3 companions out is quite silly, it might be a more enjoyable experience in boss fights when dealing with the annoying adds!

You should realize that if people aren't bringing 3 stones, then you'll see a bunch of downed companions litter the floor in every fight.

It would suck trying to revive a single teammate who was downed in a mob of downed companions.

In my dream scenario (not really, the notion of more than one companion out at a time still strikes me as stupid), I also assumed passable AI for the companions.

I think a better AI or some control options would be nice like guard, aggressive , passive, or something like that.

RPGs, and of course the derivative MMOs, are supposed to be social games. You're expected to team up and enjoy content, together.

Yes, but people make that a difficult thing to accomplish. I haven't seen a decent MMO community in a long time

This is where foundry missions shine! You can have as many companions as you like in a foundry mission. The author just needs to include them :)

Only think i dislike about companions is how fast they die. I just wish companions were useful in dungeons outside of iouns tone and cat, since not all of us have the $ or ad to spend. Im hoping theyll buff them up in the future. Ido not however think having multiple companions ot at once is a good idea. I feel it would cause issues and it would also mean that solo enemies would need buffed up massively to make up for the increase in player potential.

I think it would be reasonable to allow one passive companion (like the stone or cat) and one active companion (anything else) at the same time.

Either that or fix active companions so that they are useful in the endgame. Even the purple ones are far too weak to even dent a trash mob in the endgame dungeons.

While we can argue about having three companions out at once, we could have one companion that is made by two or three guys that work together. Examples: a little witch that fight with her housecat (her familiar)- two twins a brother and sister that fight together one a GWF the other a TR -three pint-sized dogs- Triad (of the legion of superheroes) and so on

When I first started playing I bought 3 2g companions as I thought I would be able to have 3 active companions. Man I was disappointed.

This would probably be what would happen, I know if I could have three pets out at the same time I would have three Ioun Stones of Allure.

Already having trouble with bandwidth. Imagine if you were in a dungeon, which was the companion which was the character-- 15 companions and 5 characters. It already is messy.

Not necessarily. You could be forbidden to have three pets of the same kind out at the same time. The three pets should be different pets for example a panther, a wolf, a cleric

This is what guilds are for. Find the group that you are proud to be with, that shares your gaming goals, and play with them. Corrupted Souls and I are almost a perfect match - I wouldn't want to game with another group as I love these guys.

Then limit it to the class of pet. For instance, you could have a defender, support, and augment pet, but not 3 augments or 3 defenders.
