For all those who are still tinkering or working on their masterpiece i would like to ask one thing, mainly to do with story/dialogue

Please don't make it about fighting evil! its nearly the same bloody thing in every foundry quest that is out there, some evil lich, overlord, orc. It just switches off my mind and just makes me want to plow through all the things just so i can get to the end.

Perhaps make your antagonist, different rather than evil. And more mystery foundry quests please!

Oh and i love dialogue branches, they are a sign of awesomeness. (the ones that use class specific dialogue/responses are so awesome)

keep up the good works!

Although I can't agree every quest is all about fighting an evil antagonist, it is nice to see another non-author player here :)

I just finished redneckronin's Call of the Wild campaign last night and the antagonists are definitely not evil. Celantra's City of Conflict campaign (3 parts out) has mystery and political intrique. There are lots of "just fun" quests...anything by dzogen and kelpplankton, Winterswitch's The Green Zone, drakesigar's Adventuring College, mrthebozer's Bonderleaf's Thorough Aggregator and Nduna's The Party come to mind. Another Winterswitch creation is Final Examination and nevermind dialogue trees, it has multiple endings dependent on player choice!

You could try my campaign, from part 1 and onwards. It gives you the story more as a novell, and not in the "in your face" way. But it's no quick hack n' slash quests.
    I like turtles.

Brethren of the Five, Campaign. - Story focused
The Dwarven Tale - Hack 'N Slash

Yes, anything I haven't mentioned is by omission only, not for any other reason. Brethren of the Five is an awesome campaign with lots of mystery to go with the action.

I wonder grimah if you tend to play the shorter quests? Although they can be brilliantly crafted, to achieve the sort of meatier content you appear to desire from Foundry UGC, you may get more joy playing some of the longer quests/campaigns.

Mine is about fighting evil, but with a twist. You get to pick whether you want to be the hero or the evil overlord....

Thanks for the endorsement, Kari! My quests owe about half of their appeal to your awesome reviewing skills.
The Green Zone (NW-DP66H66F6): Train at a top-secret Goblin military installation.
Hive Mind (NW-DN9YKEVUS): Get inside a crashed alien ship to discover its purpose.
Absolute Zero (NW-DOVUXHT8P): Activate a massive teleportation machine to pursue an evil mastermind.

My quest is just gushing with cliche. In the end you storm an evil wizard's tower to rescue a princess.

Of course, I give the player the option of killing the princess instead... because that is just the kind of person I am.

Cliches are meant to be subverted in the most horrifically brutal manner possible. There are no rules, there are only edges.

George R. R. Martin would agree.

I guess you have not ran my A magical Mystery Tour then, there is no 'evil' in that. Unless you count the blue meanies.

Funnily enough I was doing research about my next quest, and discovered that the race of creatures that the quest is about, the Gityanki, were created by George R. R. Martin.

Gityanki have already been mentioned in my campaign, but this quest is going to be about the Gith, in the way that Everdark is about the Drow.

Anyway, I just thought that was funny.

Well huh, TIL. Pretty cool tidbit.

As a side note, I don't mind cliche when it's presented well. I just recently played someone's quest about a vampire that is holding a beauty against her will. Even has the manor at the top of a steep hill and the sort of "black/red" color scheme to his look.

It had all the feelings of a classic vampire manor dungeon crawl, and I loved it. Sometimes I want to take my character through a classic plot.
