First you need a stockpile of the various potions at the different levels.
Then have one profession slotted dedicated to running experiments and leveling up.
Once you have access to the aqua vitea task, start churning those out as quickly as you can with your other profession slots. Do the same once you gain access to the aqua regia task.

Unless you feel like burnign a lot of AD this is the best way.
I never spent AD to complete tasks and I leveled alchemy fairly quickly. Might have taken me a little more than a week. I wasn't keeping track of how long it took me. I did however buy a green alchemist when I needed to upgrade to mixologists to continue doing experiments. I also used alts to pump out workers.

Little bit of luck and a little more AD. I think I spent about 300K AD to reach 20 alchemy. I didn't really keep an exact amount recorded though. I could be off. Early on you can use AD to speed up the XP task. Later it costs to much.
You can only get the alchemical knowledge scrolls you need to level from experiment tasks. Then you use alchemical knowledge scrolls for the XP tasks. Ignore just about everything else.
Only certain potions and other mats are used in the experiment tasks or the XP task. On Beholder at least - Its a million times more efficient to buy a stack of these off the AH than it is to make them. Heck I'm pretty sure you could run an AD creating Leadership task and buy them with that faster than making the number of regular potions you will need with alchemy.
Only mat I generally bothered to make myself was the Aqua Regia. About halfway through I realized I was going to need a ton of that. So I had several assets making that at all times.
Disclaimer: I was already farming Leadership. So my character already had 6 profession slots open. I had spare AD. Also already had a moderate stockpile of potions (of various levels) from invoking lying around. And I had my other characters combine the alchemy workers into better ones for me.
All that said, I wish I hadn't have bothered. The only thing I really care about in alchemy is the dyes and you get access to those early on. On top of that, now my Alchemy is higher than my Leadership on that character. So every time I go to set a task past the first it defaults to alchemy instead of leadership now. Ugh.

I see they just upgraded Aqua Vitae at Level 8 so you can produce 4 units in 40 min. They should do the same with Aqua Regia at level 15 4 units in 2 hr 20 min. Then at level 20 add mass production at 2 hr 30 min for Aqua vitae and 5 hr for Aqua Regia.

Faster craftsmen (alchemists), give you a higher percentage chance at getting the alchemical knowledge that you need to raise in level. I level to 7 in one day, then I gave up, because I realized it's ****ing pointless. Spend your time leveling something like tailoring, mailsmith, something where you can make money. Alchemy isn't very lucrative in the end by comparison. I can make 450K AD on one mailsmith item, whereas you'd have to get that over tons of pot sells via alchemy. Pointless craft.

And use AD to fast track the tasks
What Class Are You?
You need a ****ton of AD.

Level up a new toon and check here:

to see what potions you need to save. Then when you are ready have one slot running the experimental tasks while another churns out aqua.
