Today i was trying to change the appearance of my High General Shield with a Steel Bulwark shield. When i clicked change appearance the only thing that showed up were dyes not the steel bulwark, plus the window said i did not have a similar object to compare.(something to this effect) Is there some sort of bug with changing objects appearance now?

I have had something similar happen. I was trying to change my battlefield stalker hat to look like the hat of the pirate horde (or whatever) and it wouldn't work, even though they are both freaking hats. My theory was that it wasn't working because the battlefield stalker hat is a TR only hat, and the pirate horde can be used by anyone (I think). I could get the battlefield stalker boot to look like elusive agent boots, so it sometimes works.
Your example breaks my theory because they are both GF shields.
I hope they fix this, the tr endgame hats look ridiculous with those pointy noses.
If you have the item equipped, remove it and place it in your inventory, then right click it and choose the change appearance option. Add the appearance item into the other slot and make sure you see the change on the character before accepting.
That seems to work for everything I have tried. It usually does not work properly when the item is equipped though.

Just tried your suggestion Vientor, no luck. Now I'm wondering if you can only change appearance with items of the same rarity. The battlefield stalker hat is purple while the pirate hat is only blue.
Has anyone be able to change appearance with items of different rarities?
