they announced that ANY free to play game to come to PS4 will NOT require psn+ and their allowing all kinds of developers to port their games over. Look at Blacklight Retribution a PWE game. Just seems to make sense.

Why does it make sense though? Because the UI is more intuitive for controllers? Because the action combat is smoother with a controller? Because all of your friends will be getting a PS4?

I really want to use the "Umad bro" as I have never been able to use it before, but honestly I didnt mean to come across as mean towards you. I just wanted some kind of explanation as to why you think the game would be suited for the PS4 as well.

I think it could be fun on a console, but I really just want ONE fun MMO that is cross platform.
FFXIV and TESO or sure will cross consol and pc.

Ive read that they want to be cross platform, but until it actually happens im skeptical. DCUO wanted to be cross platform and it didnt pan out.

The thing is, even if the console developer allows patching and waives the requirement of users to be on their premium service, that still doesn't ensure that putting in the time and expense to port the game over would pay off.

Additionally, while NW is a newer game, it's still not "brand new" enough to really warrant a "second launch".

    Multi-platform support isn't cheap...

I know Microsoft is trying to make it easier for PC Games to be transferred onto the XBOX and vice versa but we really haven't heard how viable that will be with the XBOX1.

The number one developer gripe with PS3, on the other hand, was that it was too complicated to design games for that system. I know they plan on heavilly improving PS4 accessibility to entice more developers to develop games for the PS4 but it's unlikely that it would be very compatible with PC or XBOX languages so likely it would involve remaking the entire game from the ground up.

Sadly this is where we are in technology. The game most certainly would do well on a console but it would require a huge investment and likely, at this point in time, a complete rework of the game from the ground up.

    It'd be awesome to see...
But unlikely to see any time soon.

I was actually thinking that this game would work pretty well on the PS4. It reminds me of DCUO anyway, with the fast action combat and the limited power slots, which is on the PC and PS3. It doesn't even need to be cross platform.

Think this game would probably do well on something like the PS4. From what I've read, the PS4 is much, much simpler to develop on, as Sony asked for a lot of developer feedback when designing it.

I agree with the simple button presses for combat you could easily play this on a console controller

I doubt Cryptic is too eager to invest in making a game on a console again after the failed attempt to have Champions Online on XBox 360.

    This exactly!

They have been down this road before, and it didn't end well. I don't expect they are all that motivated to try it again. And I honestly cant blame them.

IDK about Cryptic but Blacklight Retribution (a PWE game like cryptic/neverwinter, etc) is going to be on PS4 as well as old games being remade for PS4 : http://us.playstation.com/ps4/games/blacklight-retribution-ps4.html

Also do not forget Warframe and D3 and all the rest of the OLD games being remade for the PS4.

Champions was a long time ago. We cant stay in the past. Also Cryptic is working on a top secret project that MIGHT just hit PS4. (Rumored) : http://crypticstudios.com/#

So seeing as how PWE owns Cryptic, it would not surprise me to see STO or NWO on PS4. Again, look at Blacklight Retribution.

But this is early skepticisim at its best. Hell, the PS4 is not even out yet and were still yet to know what more is to come.

My op was just stating that it would be kool to have NWO on PS4.

Why exactly? Generally speaking PC games rarely benefit from being consolized. PC games often have to be stripped and dumbed down to work on a console. Even next generation consoles will only be next gen for a short while. New PC tech and hardware comes out all the time, and is always improving. A console is a snap shot in time and only improves years later when the next newest box comes out.

So you end up with a box, that in effect is a limited, near impossible to upgrade PC, because they are using PC parts. That by design cant even do everything a PC could do, because they limit it intentionally, reduce it, to keep it simple. And people gobble it up as if its some new stellar tech and the next big thing.

Let see... I could spend 400$ on a PS4 and get a guarenteed 80+ frames for 10 years seeing as how it has an 8 core processor and a top of the line AMD Readon HD card. I priced it out and it would cost almost 2000$ to get what the PS4 has in it.

But what can I say.... pc fanboys will troll. Is it so hard to see a consol on parwith pc or if it happend would the world stop?

I mean does this need to be the days of PS2 and pc being so alien to each other?

In 10 years when pc users have spent 5000$+ to keep up with modern games, the PS4 and X-Box will play the games you cant and still guarantee 80+ frames on any MMO for the consol.

Think about it (realistically) when is an 8 core processor going to be low end? Hell, quad core is not even low end yet. And this game takes a minimum of a Pentium 4 to run it. (BTW thats a single core)

I have a quad core and an GeForce 8500. Got this comp real cheap too at a steller price of 375$ used.

If I known then that I could put in 25$ more and get an 8 core plus a AMD Radeon HD 7990 and will play the mmo's you want with prefect quality then......... well what would you do?

Spend 1500$ to 2000$ for top of the line then upgrade next year for god knows how much, or, pay 400$ and be doing better for less money.

Its sad thatr people payed 500$ to 1000$ for their PC's and they cant run Planetside 2 but now these people will be able to play the game on a PS4 and guarantee 80+ frames.

I get 7 fps in planetside 2. Hell even with a quad core I never reached over 25 fps ever.

So I could dip 400$ in a PS4 and be done and set or I can pay 400$ for 8 cores and be screwed on video card and now a bigger power supply but wait.... my motherboard is am 2 not am 3 so now the card and cores are usless unless I buy a 200$ to 400$ motherboard.

To put it simple, it's becoming too expensive to keep up with pc. I'm going to slow down and get the PS4 and save the money I would spend on upgrading and use it for something better, like my kids.

It's also easier for a developer to develop, maintain and optimise code for a console like the PS4 since the specs will be fixed. They don't need to care about all the various spec configurations and different drivers for PCs. If a developer tried to optimise for the highest PC that's available, they would be limiting themselves to a very small audience that can actually run the game.

I'm not touching a console until one has full support in-game for a mouse and keyboard. I suck when my precise aiming is handled by a little thumb-stick.

NW will not run at constant 80+ fps on an intel or amd desktop.

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/neverwinter-performance-benchmark,3495-9.html

2-3GHz 8-core cpu in a console is unlikely to outperform the latest desktop cpu's.
Before you say "developers should optimize for PS4" .....

NW is a PC game. Until they optimize for 8 core desktop cpu's (which probably will never happen),
do not expect optimization for 8 core playstation 4.

PS4 has mouse and keyboard functions in their games. Unlike X-Box you can hook a mouse and keyboard up too a PS4.

If they devoloped it for the console then it would be a different version.

Neverwinter for PC will not get 80+ frames but a new version devoloped for consoles will work within those limitations.

Again, if it is cheaper to buy a console than constantly upgrading a PC then consoles are the way to go.

I know fanboy PC lovers will hate it but if a PS4 can play every MMO I play without fault, then i'm going with a winner.

Now as far as optimizing NWO for 8 core for PC might be a long shot.

But then again look at DC Universe. Seperate from the PC servers. That is what they should do with NWO.

DC Universe was made for a Duel Core but it works wonderfully for my Quad Core and DC was not made for Quad Core at all(not even recommended).
