I had this DD run with a CW that use repel on tab i don't understand the purposes of repel on tab for throwing mob off cliff. Don't you have shield already and combo with entangling force on tab which regen all your AP. Why does some CW use repel which doesnt allow you to spam AS and when they fail a punt the mobs get out of control. Even after suggesting for the CW to change repel to entangling force and try it at least he refuse claiming its he's playstyle. For those CW out there who use repel on tab in SP to clear trash WHY? Why so stubborn ?

It really depends at what part of the dungeon and how many mobs are up.

In most of the trash clearing of SP, timing AS+Shield with large pushes is more efficient. But sometimes a group is so bad at allowing mobs to collect in one place or there are only a low number of mobs, that it can be more efficient to just Repel and control mobs until you can Repel again.

Repel has a low CD. So, as long as the CW/group was controlling mobs there should be no real issues even on trash. Also, if you hit enough mobs with Repel on tab, it actually has fairly decent AP generation.

There's only really two ways you can mess up with Repel in SP:

    1. Using it when there is not enough room to drop mobs into the environment and they end up getting stuck, especially around the time you are collecting Tomes. This is where Shield wins.
    2. Using it on its own when many mobs are up and not setting up the pushes with other spells.

Also, of course, Repel is by far the most efficient spell for the endboss. Though even then, I favor big AS+Shield pushes for the disappearing platform/extra adds phases. If you get good with Repel for that boss, you can do it so you only need two or three AS for the whole fight.

Assuming your group was helping collect the mobs, then it sounds like your CW failed in controlling them and was just playing "pool" with mobs, which is mess up number 2.

the last 5 SP runs i've run as solo cw with repel on tab, no problems at all. Just use repel wisely and when boss goes away use singularity and shield pop. only using sing+shield (no repel) will be annoying when few mobs run around and you don't wanna waste your sing. basically:

Repel -> RoE & CoI & MM on boss while repel cooldown... repeat
when boss is away and adds spawn: singularity & shield pop

For last boss - I use Repel on mastery, icy terrain, shield, and shard of the avalanche. Always do it solo and works great

I actually get alot of use out of Shard so dont laugh. It helps as another knockback, I'll cast it in a big push and let it sit, use shield or repel, if I miss a mob, I push the bowling ball at'em and it knocks'em off. Works great. Magic Missile in the downtime on boss.

This boss is so disgustingly easy, honestly with a decent group you dont even really need a cleric most of the time, except for the last phase. But I've been down to just 2 folks left at times, a dps and myself, just run around the circle, use pots and kite the mobs till the melee kills the boss

Couldn't agree more with the OP. Unfortunately I have had the misfortune of playing the final boss on SP with other wizards that use repel on many occasions.

It makes it harder for everybody. I can keep singularity up all the time when I play solo and push all the adds off in one go, but when another CW is using repel there are adds all over the place and it's out of control. I can't restore enough action points to get singularities up and it's just a mess basically.

This is the reason I no longer play SP with other wizards unless I know them. One CW that understands how to chain singularity with entangling force is far better than two CW's using repel. It's so frustrating playing SP and knowing that if I was solo I could do a far better job.

Oh and in case you were wondering, when there are only a couple of adds and it's not worth using a singularity, I use icy terrain and steal time in combination to hold them in place until more spawn.

Repel is a great spell in SP. Most of "dogs" are thrown away on spawning via shield or repel. Tabbed force choke is a bull****, never used this HAMSTER in any t2 instance or CN. There is always the best option for tab slot, than choke.

Repel on Tab is the most efficient way to do last boss of SP.
Repel has an insanely low Cooldown.
Repel has like 3x the push distance of Shield Pulse

You will still have your sigularities, and you will still have your shield Pulse in that fight, but only as a backup.
Also during the last phase, you dont use EF + AS + Shield at all, unless you want to die quickly. You just go on the boss, and occasionally repel any Blues that come towards you.

yea i think we all agree about repel mastery for boss, i run the same as ohman. using repel tab, shield + 2 single dps/debuffs for the boss. shoot the boss all the time, turn around and repel/line up a repel, everytime its off cooldown and return to boss. singularity after boss goes away and perhaps another when he comes back. (I never duo CW in SP)

But i think the OP is talking about normal trash pushing throughout the instance. it depends really, i used to use repel mastery. as one of the above said about dogs. and plaguegazers and other things that just wont move very fast, and your pug group isnt pulling them effectively. In a nice group entangling force is alot more efficient, as you can get everyone in one shot. But both work well enough.

this is stupidity. Repel is good in SP has better range you just have to use it in a right angle I even did SP without a cleric thanks to Repel

i got kick once before because i was using Repel and called me ****.

Actually, it sounds like it's the OP who is a bit stubborn, cos he doesn't understand just how useful Repel in Mastery slot is for the final boss. It's got a shorter cooldown and much better range, making it easier to punt. You can use the AS/Shield for the extra adds phase .

Repel (tab'ed) on the final boss is a must for SP imo...try doing it with out and see how many wipes you rack up..if the rest of the party does not rage quit on you for not using it.

Is Spellplague "trash" different from other T2 trash? Using the word Spellplague in the title made everyone assume he is referring to the final boss. I actually still think he did.

Trash is referred to as the mobs in between bosses "the trash pulls" the mobs that spawn during a boss fight are referred to as "adds"

Now if we could only get those GFs to stop punting the trash all over the map so we can Repel them over the cliffs.
