So, I've reached lvl 60. I was overjoyed with the achievement and wanted to do epic dungeons. But then I've realized that there's a monster that is preventing me from doing that and each time I try to do an epic, I have to defeat that monster. The monster is the dreaded MATCHMAKER.

So after being at lvl 60 for 4 days, I'm already starting to ask myself - why to log on?

That's how it went today - logged on to protector's Enclave. Started to look for dungeon group in zone chat. At the same time queued for 3 dungeons. Zero response from chat. 3 groups came via queue, but all the time someone declined and I was thrown back into the matchmaker liar. Next I was thrown out of queue for 2 dungeons.... No idea why. So I've applied again and it probably put me at the end of the line.

Finally a dungeon, but wait! I'm in a group of 3, spawned in the middle of nowhere and immediately 4 monsters are attacking me. Very soon the group dissolves and I find myself with free injury, courtesy of the matchmaker.

We are back to square 1, again zero response from chat and a couple more queue groups where someone declines which throws me again to the queue.

That's how I've spent 1 hour of my game time. Great fun as you can see....

    Gauntlgrym is better anyways.

That's not my 1st MMO. I was in "guilds" in MMO's before. Of course preferable option is guild group, but to be able to rely on it you've got to be in a very big and active guild. In an average guild you'll still need queue quite often which means again horrendous wait times and strange matchmaking bugs.

Not to mention the horrible players. Good luck finishing and dungeons with a que made PuG.

I have never played a game where so many people do not understand the concept of "Do NOT stand in fire".

I've done T2 dungeons in PUGs and guild groups.

Every PUG ends the same: clear dungeon get to boss, wipe on boss, wipe on boss again, someone disbands and the group disbands soon after. I have YET to clear a single T2 dungeon from a full PUG group.

Every guild groups ends the same: clear dungeon, 1 shot boss, collect loot. The only dungeon my guild group has any difficulty is CN on the dracolich.

Zone chat in city... ive only had a few fail... these groups generally work out fine if you look for ppl of your same gear that have max'd cat/stone.

No one stands in fire on purpose. Often in dungeons my character is stuck in fire regardless of me spamming W to dodge out.
As far as I can tell, that's a factor of casting animations and stamina.

You just need to be part of a guild to do Gauntlgrym, you don't have to rely on your guild members to play.
Qing for GG PVP and GG dungeons usually isn't so bad. You'll at least get in one dungeon run, if not two.

Agree, sometimes there's not enough time between red zone appearance and the dmg taken to break the spell animation. Especially true for small red circles ashmadai fire magi love to spam. If you can't run away the second it appears - you'll take dmg.

And back on topic. After joining a group of ppl I've found via chat we've waited for 15 minutes to find a cleric and a tank. Then the group disbanded as clerics simply didn't want to join....

Today I've spent 1h 30 min queueing and waiting for groups to form. In the end it didn't work. For now, let's just call it an unlucky day. But spending 1h30min of game time waiting in queue and typing LFG in chat can hardly be called fun.

This is a big problem for the T2 dungeons.

The "elite" who have done the same dungeons 20 times (a problem in itself) only want experienced players so they can breeze through and farm the dungeon. The whole purpose is to farm it. This is fun?

So how does a new level 60 player learn? I have joined 2 guilds and both have disbanded because of some of the significant flaws in the game. That leaves PUGs which should be good, because that is how you make new friends and join guilds. Unfortunately the T2 dungeons are too difficult 99% of the time for PUGs to handle and end up exercises in pure frustration as described above.

I won't even go into the we actualy kill the boss and you are kicked so I can loot the boss roll HAMSTER I am starting to see.

Note to Cryptic. Players want gear, but they don't want to grind hours and hours of the SAME difficult content over and over trying to get the pieces of gear they want because they don't have the insane amount of AD some people are charging for gear that farm this stuff for a living. I have seen people charging millions of ADs for things that new player could never achieve without spending large amounts of cash. (I am sure this is your intent, but it is going to prevent only but the most die-hard players stick around and retain them). This have/have not elitism that is being to develop is going to really hurt this game's sustainability IMHO.

At level 60 nobody wants the green HAMSTER that drops and needs to be identified. Nobody wants to fight hundreds of difficult trash mobs that require a 5 person group to succeed. 1 person drops and 4 people just wasted an hour or more and potentialy a lot of silver/gold in healing potions, etc. for absolutetly nothing. Dungeons should be designed to be completed by 4 players of any combination and moderate skill. Adding a 5th player should make it easier or scale appropriately. Right now a bad/novice CW or DC can destroy a dungeon and that is not fair to the other teamates.

Large raid encounters should be the endgame that allows diversity and skill without so many single point failures destroying everyone's fun, except the farmers that have learned all the exploits and tricks.

The solution would lie in great Foundry

However, there's no incentive for running Foundry at 60.

Give authors the ability to craft unique gear, Foundry token drops, unique random drops. With safeguards against exploits - a mission would have to be a certain length and approved by community.

    New Foundry PVP maps.

There you go: evergreen, rewarding endgame content.

There are good puggers out there who know what they're doing and can communicate what to do.

I pugged a group for Castle Never (think everyone was low 10k gs except tank who was 12k gs) and we managed to kill the final dragon boss. It really helps if puggers do some research before entering dungeons like these, rather than hope to beat it by luck.

    1. Player can't complete T2 dungeons
    2. Player purchases Zen/AD
    3. Player buys T2 gear from AH

I don't see much incentive for Cryptic to make the game easier, at least not until they've milked it for all it's worth.

The party tool seems to be broken , several times over the past few days the window pops up that you click to join the party and one or two of the boxes are instantly red , as if one or two players are declining super fast then even though there isn't a full party I keep getting warped into the dungeon with only two or three players , had this problem for a while but today it was worse than ever.

LOL should be call MAssively Shrinking Multiplayer Online. Or MSMO

For the OP really sure ya join a guild most guilds end up with only a few people after month or so. People just keep leaving the game.

The servers should be merged i think the player base has gone down enough already. Well actually they wont do the merger until the launch of this fey woods update. That Mod will bring people back, but as new stuff launched from this company is horrible and bugged and just fails. If it fails like everything so far those that came back for it will leave and i am really sure more will leave with them. Its sad but true.

Unless something happens and the new stuff isnt bugging as bad as everything before it has been. I would be totaly impressed if there wasnt major exploits that totaly could of been seen in testing or obvious things not working major character issues. I would be completely surprised i would say the odds of that happening would be 1:10000 right now so i have no faith on that.

Try joining a guild do the GG thing hope your guild lasts long enough for to it again.

    Maybe because you're overly pessimistic?

Doesn't matter if people leave the guild - even with a member of one, you get into Gauntlgrym.
Servers are planned to be merged already.

That's also what I see. Even before I can react one or more boxes are instantly red like the player has auto-decline (if there's such an option). But what's really happening imho is that in those cases you are just pulled out of the queue to fill a vacancy in some disintegrating party in the middle of a dungeon and those red boxes just mean that already more ppl left before the matchmaker managed to pull you out. After all, we don't know how long they were waiting and how many despaired and left the dungeon.

My main bugbear is every dungeon seems to have a glitch, shortcut or cheating way to defeat a boss at this point, losing any sense of running an epix dungeon and also any slim sliver of immersion that exists in this game. I am also bored of the way the class system is more a formality than anything realistically useful.

Having rolled a tank, as crazy as it sounds, i was expecting to need to tank some stuff and be a useful member of a group. Not follow along behind a cleric or rogue who loves himself and pulls all the mobs first, and deal medicore damage. At first i used to get annoyed, but the sad fact is i realised that especially the cleric, they were doing just fine. Yeah i made his life easier but, in the right party, you dont need a tank except at boss fights and even some of those you could argue against it. Maybe i am a better tank than i thought and other groups like this would usually wipe, but i seriously doubt it.

I used to be a hardcore WOW tank, but have played DPS roles in the last few MMO's i got into. I thought this game would be a good one to be a tank again. Looks like i was wrong.

I have run all the epic T2 dungeons A LOT, so apart from CN and GG that i havent attempted yet, i have enough experience of endgame groups. I havent played recently.

Its a breeze to get good gear in this game, so many easy ways i cant understand you.

Have you never worked for something in real life or even in other games? Some form of achievement?

I have found most of my items in 5-10 dungeon delves runs and if those are too hard just do pvp (no matter how bad you are you get glory everytime) or Gauntlegrym (even pugs can do t1 runs or get carried by others in pvp part)

The easier you make the content the worse the players get cause they arent used to challanges...its a cakewalk already

other non f2p games have much better players in general thats just how it is

Because GG gets boring after the 10th time too. Not only that the end Dungeons stink. They are short, mobs just tossed in, and end boss is easy peasy in T1 and ridiculously hard in T2.

Even with 1 you still have to do the annoying zone chat to find a group for the dungeon at the end, and 99% of people are doing the T1, once again to farm and because the T2 has no chance of success with a pug.

No one wants players with that gear. They want "full swash/perfect vorpal/ioun stone, or don't waste our time". Those things cannot be found, they must be bought.

As for the rest, it is a round Robin. You can't have the best gear unless you do the end dungeons (repeatedly) but you cannot get in to a group unless you have the best gear. See the problem?

I always thought player level scaling gear that you could name (like you can the current items) and choose a visual/colour (or mix and match? accent from this piece secondary from this etc), maybe choose which stats go on it? would be good enough for me. but I bet they'll be a way discovered to exploit it and it'll be five stared to fame >.<
