And what I mean is that the game has taverns that sell you actual drinks. Mugs of ale that will magically disappear when you leave the place. And of course maybe partaking in the drinks there will give you a buff/debuff thing... like how they did things in EQ, where your strength is greatly increased, but your accuracy suffered and your view was horribly skewed the more your character drank... I bet stumbling out of the tavern while in that state will be fun.
Probably not possible though... I forget but maybe there's some rule in MMOs where you can't portray intoxication?
*sings* "I like Gammera! He's so neat!!! He is full of turtle meat!!!"
"Hah! You are doomed! You're only armed with that pathetic excuse for a musical instrument!!!" *the Savage Beast moments before Lonnehart the Bard used music to soothe him... then beat him to death with his Fat Lute*

Nah there's no rule like that.
In Lord of the Rings Online drinking alcoholic beverages gradual makes your screen get all blurry and wobbly for a little while, and I think WoW does or at least did do the same, it'd also make your local chat come out slurred as well.

I agree.
It would be fun to be able to order (buy) some alcoholic beverages from the taverns. Make the character wobbly and if you write, the text could be modified to look like a drunk trying to speak!
It is the little things that adds up, i would love some more vanity stuff like this.

HAHAHA!!! I remember that happening in EQ and WoW as well! But I still like how EQ did things. The drink gives you a huge buff in one ability, but a more debilitating buff to balance it. As I mentioned, you get a huge STR boost, but your accuracy and maybe intelligence suffer... It would be bad for a wizard to get drunk as it would disable his spellcasting.

Wasn't there a badge where you had to do a pub crawl?
Pretty sure the only limitation as far as having alcohol comsumptoin in a MMO is that it brings up teh ESRB/PEGI ratings which I don't think Neverwinter has these ratings anyways.
Id be happy for taverns with chairs we can actually sit in. Anything after that is just bonus.
As far as drinks. I kinda swore off game drinking way back in my EQ days. Getting drunk and falling off the platforms of the wood elf tree city is a sad sad way to die.

So you were one of the many wood elf corpses I kept finding under the elf tree city around the platforms? As a Half Elven Bard I was so tempted to make a song about that...

I think my corpses probably landed on top of the pile. I seem to remember falling out of the tree at least ten times in a row and quick succession.
Only died a handful of times from falling off cliffs in here tho, but multiple times in Spellplague on the last boss from using that rogue power that puts you *behind* the target (and into the acid). So if you see a pile of semi-dissolved elven bones in there, they're probably mine.
How about a better sit animation. Something like what you can do in Champions online that allows you to sit anywhere. I want one of those for Roleplay Value.

Yea, the sit animation here is.....well, its just stupid. Anything would be better then what we have now.

I'm more disappointed that sleep doesn't actually make your character lay down. Maybe the devs were scared people would use it for dirty things?
But yeah, it's dumb you can't actually sit on chairs properly. The roleplaying capabilities of this game are atrocious.
Two simple ideas that not only reduces the amount of spam we all see in PE, but would also allow a bit of immersion for those of us who want the world to feel more real.

There's two IIRC Ale Association and the Inn League.
There's an Turbine Point reward for drinking every different brew on a certain list.
There's TP rewards for the different reputation ratings with the IL and AA.
And although as you gain rep with the AA you lose it with the IL, it is possible through careful planning, quest/deed selection etc, to gain maximum rep with both factions.
Both factions award a faction specific unique mount for reaching highest rep.
Its things like this that greatly help with "game world immersion" in LOTRO.
As deeds also award TP (LOTRO equivalent of AD) its also a great way to earn "unlocks" with the game.
Cryptic could learn a LOT by taking a look at how LOTRO handles TP and "immersion".

And maybe make the Sage's Shop the trade zone...

What I would enjoy to see in taverns, is some kind of mini-games to kill time with your friends or with strangers, when bored of dungeons/PVP.
Like card games, poker dices, or any other idea. The Witcher had this kind of mini-games and I liked it.
Guilds would be able to organize funny guild events with that kind of stuff.

tavern (virtual) rooms for housing?
bar-fights (duels)?
mini-games?
(with a *slight* chance of similiar effects to the experimental potions! except for deadly poison of course).
No to bar fights, it's bad enough when the 'children' come into the Moonstone Mask and spam combat actions or spells.
Yes to mini-games, nothing like a good game of dwarf bowling or pin the ear on the elf.
