Rime Hound boss, how to kill as a TR

I have never been able to get this HAMSTER. I just cannot survive long enough (Wood Elf with Cons 13 may well explain lack of HP!!). This is my first character so probably made loads of errors with powers/feats.

I also cannot seem to dodge more than once before being swarmed/stunned/nailed by adds. Have gone back at 55 and now 60 - still do not seem to do this. Other one I had problem with were the Pirate ones.
Even tried it without a companion - actually lasted longer! But normally have the 15th lvl cleric.

Any suggestions please would be most appreciated.

Drag him down to the previous room, his adds will not follow, or at most only the first wave. Dodging is your problem, its not hard to dodge his cone breath and aoe ring, if you can't do that, you need to practice.

As a bonus there are traps in the previous rooms and he can be dragged into them, he is too big and can't avoid them all, and they do significant damage over the fight.

HAMSTER tactics work too. Stealth/lurkers and cut him down, then run away until stealth is back up, re-engage, etc.

But the biggest thing here is to not get hit by his breath or ring attacks: they do a TON of damage. If you can learn to avoid those (and again, this should not be hard) you can actually win with nothing more than cloud of steel and patience.

    Agree with the above poster.

Don't go toe-to-toe with him. And get used to doing that. Stealth... hop in... attack (with lurker's if possible), then get out and throw daggers until you stealth resets.

Don't be afraid to blow an attack by not dodging. If you see red... get the heck out of dodge.

If I remember, I don't think he was a major problem with any of my rogues.

He was harder with my rogue than with my ranged characters, but I managed to eventually win by kiting him out of the room so that there wasn't an infinite number of adds, and subbing in blitz so I had more ranged attacks. The wolf toss-you-around attack with no real tell was the killer if I tried to stand and fight, and it was hard to even finish off the adds with the huge frost cones from five wolves coming down continuously.

Very much what has been said, lure them to another room and use your dodges sparingly.

My guess is that the whole questing system is also designed as a kind of training program for your character. You'll need to learn what you can just walk away from, and what attack is so fast you need to dodge it.

Proper use of bait and switch will distract some mobs while you chop away at one.

But yeah, this is one of the hardest fights. Untill you come to the multiplying plaguefire boss. He's worse than the Hound. Same tactics though, just bring lots of extra potions.

Um, I soloed this on my GWF before the buff, and every single class since. I think the trick is not to stand toe-to-toe with the boss, spamming at-wills: abuse your dodge and ranged attack and when you in melee use your encounters for burst and be ready to dodge instantly.
