hi there! i keep hearing good things about sent spec, especially when your running dps and a cleric on a t2. but is there a huge dps difference? im instigator now atm. so just curious if i should switch it up or not.

There is a noticeable difference in DPS and Survival. I just swapped to Destroyer spec from Sentinel which i had been for about a month or so. Sentinel is my favorite spec but it cannot hold aggro so it's survival is kind of wasted. The Destroyer spec is doing considerably more DPS. It is hard to tell as party make-up varies but with the same gear I would estimate 20 - 25% overall increase. in my experience instigator is a higher DPS spec than Destroyer as long as someone else is there to take the hits. I like getting into the thick of it so Destroyer is a better fit for me. Currently Sentinel is the highest mitigation tank in game but unless your party lets them build aggro a bit they can't actually hold it.

It's really going to depend on power loadout and such to be honest. A sent in DPSish gear is still tanky and can put out pretty good damage imo. I'd really need to run with a skilled and equally geared instigator or destroyer to be able to tell for sure.

I had one run with a Destroyer with a slightly better GS (prolly the ArP conversion) and we swapped places for 1st/2nd all through the run, in the end we had within 50k damage of each other. No idea how skilled either of us is though.

    (both of us are 12k+)

so, is it really worth specing into Sent then if aggro sucks? what brought me to think of this was, i was in a pirates and was going to OT the boss while the gf and cw and other dps got adds. but hearing about the aggro is disheartening.

Personally I never understood the meaning of increasing damage from marked enemies when you can pull in aggro. If they hit you the mark goes away. Then you have feats for attacks that cause mark, and yet they aggro as well, which again defeats the purpose of putting marks on people. It's not like Guardian Fighter where you can block attacks while keeping the mark on them. What is the point of Marking while pulling aggro.

The most disheartening thing about Sentinel is, in order to actually Aggro well, you NEED those feats >.>

I'm sorry if you guys don't agree, I just don't see the purpose of having to aggro if you can't keep marks up, and have a feat that allows you to do more damage to marked creatures in the same tree

I also tried Sent, and went back to Destroyer. I can grab better aggro with Destroyer. Having Roar on 25% cooldown is a HUGE boost to dps and mitigation (for faster Determination + AP). The mitigation of Sent, while great, seems like overkill. In almost every party wipe, I am the last person down anyways, even with a GF in the group. I actually often position my GWF to get hit whether by mobs or red spots, knowing that my next unstoppable will top me off again.
Also having Takedown on 25% cooldown is awesome in PvP. So far, I am not finding any good reason to switch to Sent or Inst for either PvE or PvP. IMO, it seems Destroyer is the swiss army knife of GWFs.

The point of this feat IS to pull the aggro, not to Keep aggro. You want to mark and do more damage on adds that arent attacking you, until they start attacking you. Regardless, I agree that the benefit of the feat is short lived. There needs to be a minimum number of seconds where the marks remain active. On the other hand, it works good if there is a GF in the party.
