What is the purpose of the Foundry Event?

I wanted to save the best for last, so I did my first Foundry mission last night. I got the daily quest from Rhix and dutifully waited for the Foundry Event to start.

I did 2 Foundry missions while the event was active, I thought it would work like Skirmishes, and I would get 1000 AD for every mission I completed while the event was running. But I only got junk from the reward chest and Rhix only gave me 1000 AD when I turned the daily in.

Am I missing something? Is there a reason to wait for the Foundry Event to start before doing a Foundry mission?

Cheers.

I think the Foundry Event is for extra xp rather than AD. You can do the Foundry quests for AD at any time, once per day as long as you have the prerequisite quest from Rhix.

I'll warn you right now... doing this quest at level 60 is a pain as you have to do FOUR of them... for 4k AD.

Aha! That makes sense. At least I was getting something for my effort :)

    Thanks Lonnehart.

When the foundry event is on and you click on it, it says you get 150%(i think) more XP after the quest is finished.

I thought it said 150% XP, not 150% additional XP, so it is only 50% rather than 150% more than usual?

The thing is that the "extra xp" makes it kind-of pointless to do foundries once you hit level 60 (unless you are leveling up companions).

Also, foundry quests are relatively harder at the higher levels....best do do them while you are level 10-40.
    Hoping for improvements...

Im lv 60 and had no more quest to do, and a pet who needed 5 more ranks.
Foundrys are really a good way to level your pet, not the mobs but the end xp rewards :)

True. But you can do one of them a day if you want so the end result is still the same as doing them at level 20: 1k per run. Just because it's called a "Daily" doesn't mean you have to complete all 4 runs in one day.

When it was double AD I thought they were worth doing 4 in a row but now that it's back to normal I probably wont really bother.

As far as the difficulty at 60 goes it looks like they will be getting a bit less painful soon. From preview server path notes:
    End Game Balance Changes

Difficulty at level 55-60 has been mildly reduced for solo content, this affects:
    Solo quest instances
    Adventure Zone exteriors
    Foundry quests

On the negative side that might make some Foundry missions that are currently sitting at 15 minutes ineligible for the daily if people can go through them faster which will bring the average down.

The issue with the '15 minute" Foundry qualification limit isn't just that well geared solo players can do them quickly (although this is a factor) - it is the lack of scaling for groups which makes many of the quests trivial and extremely quick. I heard that quest makers can put in a 'timed' gate - this would really help address this issue.

The Foundry Event sucks (me feeling only semi-literate this morning), but the Foundry quests can be a joy in themselves. It's about the only content I play at L60 and I spend a lot of time doing so. For anyone only repeating 15ish minute Foundries to get the daily completed, you're missing some of the best content in game.

I guess Bill's Tavern will soon be getting itself an expansion...

The foundries are currently about farming runes to sell on the AH and leveling up companions. The daily foundry AD reward is just a added bonus.

The real issue is that you can do a 2 hour foundry and still get only 15 mins counted for daily and you're expected to do 3 more foundries. Really wish they made a simple fix so you can do 1 hour foundry and get daily finished instead of promoting running the same 15 mins dailies over and over.
