Critical Strikes - How do they work?

I'd also like to know how Criticals work. I know armor with Critical stats on it will increase your Critical hit Chance, and "multiplier", but what is this related to(maybe Power)? I'm not sure how to word this but here's an example: I know that in some RPG's for Mage's the critical strike is related to how much intelligence you have so the more intelligence the higher the damage the critical strike is and the more critical strike you have the higher your chance is to hit one. How does it work in NW?

To OP: you are over complicating.

If your current health is 22,000 HP with Toughness 3/3 Heroic Feat (giving 9% extra HP), if you respecced and had no points in anything, your HP would be, Y would be:

    Y x (1 + 9%) = 22,000 HP

    So,

    Y = 22,000 HP / (1 + 9%) = 20,183 HP.

    For diericx1,

Critical Chance = Base Critical Chance + (Critical Chance Stat - 10)% + Critical Chance from Feats (aka. "Features") + Critical Chance from Critical Strike rating from gear.

    - most classes have Base Critical Chance of 5%
    - classes have different stat that gives Critical Chance. For CW it is the CHA stat. Let's say I have 20 CHA
    - say I have the Weapon Mastery 3/3 Heroic Feat that gives 3% extra Critical Chance
    - so if you have Critical Chance from Critical Strike rating (press 'C', look at tooltip) of 10%, then,

    Critical Chance = 5% + (20 - 10)% + 3 + 10% = 28%.

Wow thank you so much for this! It cleared up a lot! I only have a couple mroe questions. When you land a critical hit, what does it do (Does it relate to the characters Power?) and how do you increase the damage of the critical hits?

Thanks again for the detailed response!

The base crit severity is +75%
there is currently no gear or stat that increases this (to my knowledge), but
half orcs get an extra 5% for a base total of +80% damage on a critical hit
rogues have multiple abilities to increase crit severity
    • Devastating Shroud - Increase your critical strike chance and severity by 2/4/6/8/10% for 6 seconds after using Shocking Execution.
    • Brutal Backstab - While Stealthed you critical with 5/10/15/20/25% more severity.
    • Deadly Momentum - Duelist's Flurry has a 5/10/15/20/25% chance to apply Deadly Momentum; Increases your critical severity by 3% per stack (15%)

it seems they are additive so if you were to optimize for crit severity you could max out at +130% damage with all bonuses active (nearly impossible btw)

(on a non half orc rogue you will consistently get +100% crit severity using lashing blade from stealth if you have brutal backstab maxed)

Ahhh I see. That kind of sucks :( I would love to be able to get my crit severity to 100%, even if it took a long time :D

actually i just found out about [Vorpal Enchantment] that increases crit severity by 25% bringing it up to your sweet 100%* (12% for the lesser version and i have not yet seen a greater version)

    *half orcs would get 105%!
