Helm's Hold, what is wrong with this zone?

Why is it when I get a character into Helm's Hold I experience DC's all the time?
Also there are times I can't even get loaded into the zone when I have characters there.

What is wrong with this zone that all of these issues constant occur only there?

    OP, try this: On the launcher there should be an option to launch the game in safe mode. Select that and try to play in the zone. Yes, the game will look cruddy, but if you cease to experience the DC's, then it means there was some graphical effect in that zone that was doing it for you. If that does the trick, then you can try systematically bringing up the settings until it happens again, at which point you can roll back 1 set (at least until you've finished the zone).

    This doesn't work. It is specifically the zone that has problems. I've played up to it on one character without having anything but normal DC's here and there. Gotten to the zone on the first char, boom DC DC DC DC, unable to load the zone etc. After a few days of trying at random times it finally works, get out of the zone, and it's ok.

    2nd character is now in that zone, exact same issues.

    Ive tried all the settings etc, it changes nothing. On the first character it basically took clicking enter world and relogging over and over and over until the zone finally would load. It doesn't even fail to load really it just flashes the loading screen after logging in and just DCs me.

    Oh just to add, the other character which is not in that zone can load up fine.

    OK, my first post was to be somewhat funny, it seems that the files that are part of helms hold have some kind problem or maybe since you dced so many times one of them finished getting corrupted, i cant recall were, but there is some kind of tool that check files integrity, it takes some time, up to 1 hour sometimes.

    Just to rule out other possibilities, then, have you disabled on demand patching? Maybe it's having a problem loading some of the necessary files on-the-fly.

    I haven't experienced this issue, which is why I'm kinda suggesting the general stuff. Sorry you're having the problem...

    Ya tried with on-demand patching both enabled and disabled.

    Last time i basically just had to keep hammering the thing until I got in. Took about 3 days of trying at all different times. I am currently playing another character in another zone without issue.
    I can even go into that zone and it loads fine, exit the zone etc. I've played with this on my first character frustrated with it.
    It happens when a character DC's in the zone. When that occurs that character is basically stuck there not able to get into the game for whatever reason. It must be some sort of corruption on the server end or something unhandled.
    Either way it's frustrating since there's no support for the game. PWE should consider adding customer service in the near future.

    I haven't got any of these issues, and never seen someone in zone complaining about that. If checking the game files on launch doesn't work you should reinstall the game.

    Done this multiple times actually. I've run the check too, it always comes back that everything is fine.

    Newest video drivers? Just an idea.. The newest Radeon ones stopped some tearing I had there. Probably not it ';)

    Interesting story about drivers - once I updated to the Nvidia 320.XX drivers, I started having random freeze-ups and system crashes... rolled back to 314.22 and they went away.

    Anyway, if you manage to figure this out, let us know, OP.

    Well the fact that I can get on other characters, and also enter Helm's Hold with other characters leads me to believe it's an issue server side that occurs when someone DCs in that zone and that there is nothing a player can do client side to fix this. In retrospective my first character was 'trapped' for I believe three days, and I have the feeling it became 'unlocked' following a server maintenance, not positive of this though. Either way it's for sure an issue on the server side, not the client. Otherwise i wouldnt be able to log other characters and/or enter that zone without issue.

    One thing's for sure, this issue is consistent, at least for me, and repeatable, and it's obvious there's no customer support for this game, so I am about at the giving up point on this.

    For a moment there I thought the devils had found a way to circumvent the last patch that kept them from spawning so much outside The Dirty Dwarf Tavern...

    I can feel your pain though. I don't stay in Protector's Enclave too long because no matter what I do I'm always booted out by an "Out of Texture Memory Error" if I stay in that zone long enough.
