It seems like to final boss encounter in the Grey Wolf Dungeon is set too high for level 39. I was part of multiple parties between levels 40 and 43 that had no problems getting through any of the dungeon until the final boss and failed to complete it with everyone dying. I believe that we tried 7 or 8 times with each party giving up. The issue is that once your health goes down the boss spawns two monsters that go only after the played that he hit, then when your health goes down more another 2 even stronger monsters are spawned against the player. Its actually quite hysterical to watch everyone just running around being chased by up to 5 enemies only to eventually die. Even worse once you die you are out and cant return to the battle so the party will lose by attrition.
This battle was difficult, but The trick is you need ether or both a good CW for adds control. But the biggest thing, is your tank, if he's/she/s not holding boss aggro it really decreases your chances, the adds the boss spawn, only spawn if he Melee's you, But, a GF as long as his shield doesn't break can block that melee. No melee damage, no dark wolf spawns. I would recoment your tank equip powers that increase guard meter
The best thing to do is to ditch your pets, pets will murder you. The goal is not have anyone, pets or players, get hit by the boss.
Have a good tank block the boss and have everyone else stand well out of range and DPS the heck out of it.

Imo it's all the other boss fights that are too easy. This is one of the few bosses in the game that actually encourage you to take a tank.
Not too tough at all on a decent guardian fighter tank. If you had that much trouble I can only assume you never took one, or the one you took was severely ungeared/unskilled.
Personally 3 manned it at level - me on GF, dc and tr. TR died at 20% and we still completed.
I agree this boss was overpowered in comparison with every boss I've faced yet. I don't follow the logic of getting rid of your companion. What was the point of having one unless you can take them everywhere? But seriously, I'm not following how no companions increase your odds here.

Dun forget to bring your friendly Devoted Cleric along.
Second attempt and nailed it! Had something like 3k gear score no enchantments. Was hella FUN!

I recall this being difficult (impossible if you don't know what's happening) before big release patch, but I found after release date it got much easier (fewer spawns). Did they switch it back? IMO, I think they have trouble with version control. I've seen old bugs and behaviors return after being "fixed" the first time. I wouldn't doubt the old spawn behavior has returned.

The bosses main attack summons two wolves when he hits anyone with it. Companions become a liability in this case simply because they always seem to want to stand in the danger zone. And when they get hit, and they will, you get more adds.
Not using companions on this boss actually helps, simply because it removes a large source of adds from the boss. Players can further reduce this, by simply playing smart. With adds reduced to a mere trickle this fight gets much easier.

I'll have to remember that about companions, but it's still ridiculous... I was actually going to post about the impossibility until I found this. The only reason I'm still trying is because I want the "Leader of the Pack" tag, but at this point, the dungeon isn't fun anymore.
