NWO is the new D&DD

Welp I guess most of you are wondering what the D&DD stands for? Remember that failure of a forgotten realms game made by Atari? You know. The one that was SOOOOO bad that they had a high % of charge backs that they had to cancel making the other 2 of the trilogy? Yea that, Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale. That is pretty much the path that NWO is taking and unless there is a major overhaul (Like what SE did to FFXIV) I see this game ending at the same stop.

I have to say then, if NWO is really that bad, I am sure glad I don't play it. Though the only NWO game I am aware of was actually really good. Yeah, WCW VS NWO: Revenge, back in 97 that game rocked!

Neverwinter is pretty fun too, a few things need to be addressed, I mean PVP is horrible, but that does not define this type of game and the endless adds as a boss mechanic should be changed, but overall I think it is on the right path. But hey, if not, perhaps I shall go dust off my copy of Revenge!

I am more wondering why Neverwinter is abbreviated NWO (Neverwinter Online) as opposed to just NW?

Is there another popular MMO (or Game company) out there that uses the NW abbreviation?

No, nothing uses it. NW is the proper abbreviation but some people use NWO instead.

Well "Neverwinter" ("NW") could mean Nights 1, Nights 2, or this game. So I think people use "NWO" to differentiate between the "Nights" and the MMO.

Could have sworn those have always been referred to as NWN and NWN2.

Sure they are. But not necessarily always. Speaking for myself, before I played this game, I would just call them both "Neverwinter", especially when talking (literally) about them.

Yes, but this company has specifically stated this is NOT called Neverwinter Online, you can find the link to this in any number of posts referring to this game by the incorrect moniker. This game is just called Neverwinter, and if that is too much work to type, it would be abbreviated NW. NWO is organization in wrestling:

Would you mind posting a link? I just did a forum search and could not find anyone from the company commenting on it.

But in the grand scheme of things...does it really matter if someone calls it "NW" or "NWO"? Either way, the point gets across.

("NWO" can also mean New World Order....which is something else entirely.)

Kind of ironic that they labelled teh game directory NWO, yet specifically say the abbreviation should not be that.

I like NWO over NW. The game isnt going to totally fail there will be say 10,000 people willing to pay out money to the zen store at a outragous rate. To keep it going. All the fanboys will gladly fork out the cash to keep this going. Then the people that dont do thier research first and get sucked into starting the game they usually will stick around for a month or 2. Then realize they got ripped off.

People know what the title is, but that doesn't mean you can dictate to them that they cannot call it nwo when there is already a huge amount of people doing so.

Until there is another game officially using the nwo tag I don't see it really matters and only serves to derail threads when certain people decide to get pedantic about it.

Didn't know that Daggerfall was gonna be a trilogy, guess should be thankful it never made that far from apparent reviews.

Still though, are you sure that it was the reviews and not the fact that Hasbro took Atari to court and got the D&D digital license revoked or whatever? I would think that the legal suit would be more reason than anything as why would anyone in their right mind develop a game when they knew they will be fighting a legal battle for the IP digital rights.

Because it's such a big deal, and you had so much trouble differentiating between the two, that you had to point it out, instead of posting anything to forward the op's post?
TL : DR? Then don't waste my time responding.

    It's Neverwinter (NW).... not NWO...

Cryptic's other two games are Champions Online and Star Trek Online.

Stands to reason to call this one Neverwinter Online?

At any rate, it's what I'll call it regardless of what people think. :)
