I just completed my first quest. It's nothing fancy as I am just learning my way around the foundry. I'm aiming for 15 minutes so if you think of it, time yourself to see how long it takes and let me know.

Thank you in advance for your help :)

Quest: Finding the Artifact - NW-DFHDG2BLH

UPDATE: I've updated the quest a few times now with the help of some suggestions that I've received. I've added background for the quest in the inn as flavor and to immerse the player into the quest. I've added NPCs in the dungeon that will fight along with the player and have thinned out the spawns. I hope it's a better quest now for the changes. Thank you all for looking and for your suggestions.

I gave you 5 stars but I have criticism. :P
First off, nobody wants to see 1 out of 24 encounters to kill IMO. The encounters would be too hard for level 60's because there are stacked encounters. Luckily I brought my low level rogue :D

It took my low level guy exactly 15 minutes but I felt like you used mobs for length rather than an interesting story. Just my opinion.

Thank you for reviewing my quest and being so generous with the stars. I know that it still needs work. I didn't know that the encounters would be too tough for level 60s and that's something that I should work on.

I see what you mean about 1/24 encounters. Maybe I should just set up one objective and have the rest as normal encounters to kill or not kill.

Thank you again .. I consider this a work in progress as I'm still learning. My next one in the quest line will be more story driven (I hope) and perhaps have less encounters.

Good for a first adventure. Same advice as crok2. I looked at the quest tab and was not looking forward to it.

If you're goal is to try and guide the player through the dungeon, I'd recommend rally points instead of killing monsters.

Perhaps break up the monotony with a puzzle or two. Quests of just "kill X monster" belong in WoW, not Neverwinter :)

About the stacked encounters, I liked how some of them included monsters on patrol so you can try and time attacking them so that you wouldn't have to fight both at the same time.

I'd also highly recommend overhauling the story. Lots of fighting is good, but every player is different in what they want from an adventure and the broader you can appeal, the better your adventure will be.

Hope that helps. Check out my adventure in my sig, I would appreciate some feedback and a review to get out of the foundry dungeon.
    Cheers!

Thank you Kris. I see what you mean. I will continue to work on this quest. I didn't know how to do many things and watched a lot of videos. This was definitely a learning experience but a lot of fun and I hope to perfect this one and move onto something else.

It's late tonight and I'm headed to bed but I've already taken your quest and will do it tomorrow.

    Thank you again!

    Hey, Broden here. NW-DL56XXWIV

I did it as a level 60 cleric, but I'm wearing T2 and Ancient epics. I personally liked the countdown, though I may just be a weirdo. =b

Broden, thank you so much. I see that you quest finally published! I'll run through it tonight. Taking my son and his friends to Chuck E Cheese this afternoon (may the gods help me).

Broden, I tried your quest but I'm afraid that I did not complete it. I died 5 times and that was before even reaching the Ogres. My character just isn't tough enough ... or I'm not very good at fighting I dont' know which. Sorry, I wanted to review it.

I've updated the quest using some of the advice posted. I wanted to add a "puzzle" as suggested by Kris above but don't have the foundry skills for that. What type of puzzles are available to us?

Just ran it and found it easy. Not sure if you moved mobs around or why people were complaining about stacking.
Any way I really enjoyed the idea of scrounging through every barrel and pile of stuff to find this artifact. Kinda made me feel like a kinder running from shiny to shiny in hopes of finding something interesting, swatting away pesky undead in my way heh.

I'm still looking for people to review my quest The Lost Keep NW-DS1XBAK7D, if you wouldn't mind giving it a try.

As per the puzzles mentioned above, there are lots of ways to do it, but I think the word (dialog) puzzle is probably the most common and easiest to do.

Thalazar, thank you for reviewing my quest. What is a word puzzle? I would be interested to know and figure out how to do something like that. I'm going to jump into the game and run your quest right now. Thank again!

well a simple numbers puzzle like in dialog enter the proper sequence of numbers ( I have used that in my foul cistern quest, that quest still needs to be overhauled though) I have seen simple riddles "What colour is the sky" 1) purple [stops dialog maybe spawns monster] 2) blue [dialog continues or stops dialog and despawns the wall or door blocking the way] etc.
Another puzzle I have seen is 3 objects, click the wrong one more baddies spawn, click the right one you find the key.

Thalazar ,I don't know if you saw my other post but I tried to complete your quest. I don't know if the quest is bugged or not but it dumped me back in PE at the end and then there was no quest. In your thread, there's another person that something similar happened to although he seemed to get farther along in the quest than I did.

I did have a couple of questions for you though .. because I LOVED your quest.

    1. How did you set the torches to light?
    2. How did you create the spider eggs, have them explode and then spawn spiders?

Let me know if the problem with your quest gets fixed, I would be happy to go back and give you 5 stars.
