Is there a max distance on teleportals?

Tried to search but couldn't find anything. My teleportals aren't working when place where I need them. They only appear when I place them pretty close to each other. Otherwise they just cease to exist. Is there a max distance on these things?

I might have run into this as well ^^

Edit: though I doubt it.. Since one teleporter ranges across the whole map while the others is like.. Half?

If there is a limit on distance, I haven't found it yet. Most likely the issue is the y-value. The rotation angle and y-value for teleporters aren't the same as other objects. The teleporter is there, it just may be below the ground or above the ceiling and you can't see it. You'll just have to play around with the y-values to get it where you want. Good luck.

No this isn't it, I know. Two of mine just vanished, but I seemed to have fixed it anyway.

Okay let's see if this works, replaced the two vanished portals with two new portals.

Yep the second one worked out fine.

OK, think I got it. Those Y values are just seriously messed up. Had to set one to -35 with relation to zero for it to appear at chest level on the map. Thanks for the help.

Yeah. Aren't teleporters "fun?" It's like a game within a game!
I've spent HOURS aligning their dang y-positions, you need to move one a little bit and it jacks up the other one.
I use teleporters all the time to get from my spawn point to my detail areas.

I read somewhere that teleporters use radians instead of angles.

Here's a hint go to the spot you want Portal 1 by right clicking and stating Play map from here, once in that spot type /loc_vec that will give you the "Exact" location for 1st portal, go to the other spot and do the same, then once you put in the portal you want just put in the loc info you got from the /loc_vec and you should be good to go

The y-value for teleporters doesn't work that way, as mentioned above. Also, check the FAQ thread in my sig for more info.

The only teles I use are the red ones, since that's the only one that seems to have a vaguely correct Y-value.
I have found tele's will either not work, or fail to spawn if they are too close to a wall/ceiling so make sure you leave plenty of space around them.

I've never seen tele's "not" spawn. They never seem to be where I want them placed, but I've had them embedded in floors, ceilings, walls, behind walls, half-way inside terrain, below terrain. Just never "at" the location placed. They are very annoying.
