What Happened?

I was away 6/27 and did not play NW.

Today 6/28, I attempt to log in, a patch is downloaded, I click "play".

"Cryptic" screen pops up, but I see no "load" bar. Then a message, "unable to establish connection to patch server."

WHY?? "Neverwinter" was fine 6/26, no issues until 6/28 download.

Checked forum, see thread about log in issues, try the only "fix" that was even close to my issue, no help and others with similar problem.

So, I try to log into "STO" another patch and this one's not listed on log in screen, I "click" play "Cryptic" screen pops up and again no "load" bar and now "STO" gives same message, "unable to establish connection to patch server."

WHY?? "STO"was fine 6/26.

All seems related to me, so when will it be "patched?

    I just launched NW to see if I would have the same issue. It started just fine for me. I don't have STO installed to check that. Perhaps if you restart or do a full shut down it might work, with your system being refreshed.

    hmm, odd both games are working fine for me. in the launcher options check verify files. maybe some thing got corrupted. it happens from time to time

    Well, it told you why. Some unknown network error between you and their server has a problem. It could be your PC -- firewall or OS updates can do it, as can malware or hardware problems or dozens of other things. It could be your ISP. It could be an internet "black hole" problem. It could be something at cryptic/pwe but that seems less likely as everyone else is able to function.

    Could be very difficult to figure out the problem, but the servers are actually UP and most folks seem to be able to play.... so take it from there.

    Hey All, Thanks for the replies.

    Don't know if this was changed by the game, patch, or OS update.

    Switched "Compatibility" setting and all is as it was.

    Were you not running it as a user in the Administrator group? By compatibility do you mean operating system version or "run as Administrator" compatibility options?

    My machine is running the WIN 8 upgrade. How the OS program sets "Administrator" by default is how I leave it.

    Mentioned before I had no issues until the 6/28 patch. Tried multiple suggestions(other players, info posted on support)no help.

    Checking I found "NW" was set to WIN XP/3 Compatibility. If I remember listed as an acceptable OS for game play.

    I switched "NW" to WIN 7 Compatibility and again was able to log in/play normally. Only difference I see is graphics seem a bit crisper.
