Lower Gear Score AFTER patch?

Before the patch today, after blowing through a zone, some foundrys and even a dungeon, I decked out my CW with new digs, upping his gear score to 5313. I played awhile before the system kicked me off and when I log back in, at random, I notice his gear score is now 4843, a whole 470 below what it was when I geared up.
I worked hard to get the gear to get me above 5k before I outfitted (was at 4634 prior to gear up). So what gives?? I have screen shots of this here. gear+score+wtf.jpg
The left shot is prior to patch, the gearup up score, the right is post patch, same gear, lower score. Come on Cryptic, what did you nerf this time that is either going to
A: Make me struggle even harder to find a reason to play the game for any length of time
or
B: Make me play harder to no avail every time you decide that one class is more/less over/under whatever than the other class.
or
C: Just stop playing until you get it right.

I really don't have time for A.
I can't abide having to do B.
I don't really want to have to do C.

So, what's it going to be Cryptic? You decide what I'm going to do. I don't really want to sound all cry baby about less than 500 GS, but its the principle of the idea that you think this is the way to fix things on a weekly basis. Come up with something other than A B or C, something that is going to encourage me and others to stick around and new people to join. Stop stroking your cash cow and kick it into high gear (pun intended).

Hmmn. My GS is exactly the same as pre-patch.

The first handful of numbers are in your pic are the same.
What, after Recovery, is different now?

Everything was the same, scouts honor. I geared up after some heavy play, played with that gear until I was kicked off for the patch and then logged back in with the same gear. I could have cropped the whole picture but figured it would be too big for the post.

If everything is the same it shouldnt be any harder...I cant believe anyone is even bothering with worrying about gear score before 60...which you cant be with a gear score so low.

It may not be any harder. I'm not worrying about gear score for any reason other than it changed for NO REASON with the same gear pre patch. "with a gear score so low"?.. Is there an average GS one should be at a given level? How do you know my GS isn't great for my level? Stroke your epeen much?

i actually ran into the same issue. it's not as big a difference as it is seems to be for you, but it seems like my GS also dropped for like 40 points.. i don't know why. It might be some change in the feats. what class are you?

Did it stay stable at that lower score? I know there's a bug with the DC's Divine Emissary set where when you get too close and acquire the buff it will lower your GS anywhere from 500 to 1000.

You said you were striving to get your gear score over 5k and you were threatening to quite because your gear score dropped a little..that to me implies worry of a great deal. I wasnt disparaging your gear. I was just saying that I could tell you were less than 60 by your score and nobody should be worrying about gear score under 60.

Control Wizard. I just logged back on and the GS is the same incorrect or nerfed value, 4843. I even went back to the prior weapon/armor/boots I had before I geared up and it was lower than it had been as well, by the same 470 points. I wish I had taken a screen shot of my build before the gear up to show that difference.

I "strive" at everything I do, but what I said was "I worked hard to get the gear to get me above 5k", implying that the work was not easy. Striving would be to have that as a goal, reaching over 5k GS, which I didn't. My goal was to play the game and have fun, which I did, increasing my GS according to the level of reward I did for my not so easy work. Removing that reward makes my effort less meaningful and enjoyable, and steers me towards playing less due to the possibility of it happening again. Again, my worry was not that it dropped, it was that it SHOULD NOT HAVE DROPPED FOR NO APPARENT REASON.

I also did not threaten to quit playing the game, I simply pointed out the three most viable choices for me if Cryptic continues in this vain of "balancing" everything, every week, until we are all playing the same character that just look different. I obviously stated that leaving the game until the bugs were fixed was my least desirable choice. Well, they are all really undesirable choices to me, but I think leaving a game should be the last resort. Maybe I have a little too much faith in Cryptic to get it right in the long run, but I plan on sticking it out until/unless it blows up.

Well I am sorry if I took it wrong. There is just so many threads bashing Cryptic lately and I am going to quit if you dont fix this right now threads it gets depressing. My gear score is not great, its barely over 9200 which at 60 most would consider pathetic. I like crafting and I've spent most of my diamonds on that and it gets frustrating that people are so focused on gear score that they wouldnt even want me as player before they even seen me play.

This happened to me. I took off ALL my gear and then put it back on again and it returned to previous levels. I am not sure what piece was bugged or if it was my ion stone, but it finally returned to pre-patch levels.

My apologies for raging against you...was just frustrated. As Everwindgale suggested, I took all my gear off, right down to the scant cotton boxers, and then put it back on. Still lower than pre patch levels.

You're SURE there's not a DC with the 4pc bonus around? I had a minor freakout about this yesterday and blamed it on the patch until I ran far away from other people, lost the DC buff, and my GS returned to normal.

Positive. I have had that happen before and confused the hell out of me too. No, I usually find a secluded place, not in the Enclave, and gear up. I also make sure that I send my companion away as most of them augment my stats with Eldrich rune stones. I was alone when I geared up to 5313, and alone when I was kicked off and alone when I logged back in after the patch with a lower GS.
