If you don't buy the assets from the AH or get them from packs with zen, it takes a tremendous amount of time to 'level' them. You need to have 4 of your introductory guys hired first to turn them into a higer tier one (at 18h each hire and train step), and that keeps going every couple tiers.

Well... you don't pay them. They aren't named, you have no personal attachment to them, and you use them to do your repetitive tasks for you. When you need a better one, you trade them in for a more skilled artisan at 4:1.

But your tailor needs to be not doing anything, then you look for the upgrade at level 2 or 3. It takes 18 hours to do this I believe.
