So I was running around with my stack of skill kits doing the usual thing I do to pass time when my mates are not online and found that there has been an unannounced nerf.
Apparently now you can only farm 20 nodes and then they start giving you junk worth less than the cost of the skill kit to buy.
Oh, is that what is going on? I noticed that I was getting a bunch of junk yesterday, and I don't even farm nodes. I just open the ones I come across while questing. I also seem to be breaking a lot more keys lately. I assumed it was just bad luck, but who knows?

Do you know why they did this? Its after 20 nodes or so per day i think after that you get HAMSTER. The reason they did this is mainly from Bots plain and simple. YOu would set the bot to run around instance farming.
So because of a bunch of people using bots in the game they had to do this instead of fixing the people using bots. Its alot easier for the dev's to make it suck for everyone instead of taking care of the bot users. Welcome to Cryptic studios 101. MAke it suck for everyone bot users and people who dont cheat.
What pwe/cryptic could have done was leave the skill nodes & treasure chests untouched inside dungeons.
Doing epic dungeon ... for epic reward. Skill nodes should be 'epic' inside there right?
Kinda obvious ... to me at least ... bots don't farm inside dungeons o.O
But hey I could be mistaken.
Higher'ups intended this to happen. To deal with bot issue I'm glad they did something. It is still rampant in pvp ... <59 its nearly guaranteed to be on a team with one bot. Gotta love the naive players saying 'How can you tell" or "That's just how people play at this level".
Leave skill nodes in dungeons alone. Don't affect them if bots aren't going in there. Pwe/cryptic should take a broad look at how other games deal with bots *cough cough guildwars*. Reporting system ... can't pvp until buff goes away would limit bots a little short term. It's easy to point the finger and say fix it but there's just so many games plagues with bots its not easy fix. Maybe the players could make suggestions to pwe/cryptic in a friendly and polite manner.
Doesn't seem worth it to buy kits with the rewards yielding what they are.
Especially considering the fail rate stays the same no matter what level area you are in .... another suggestion ... higher success rate in low level areas b/c the reward is significantly less there. Make the 75% success rate only for the higher level areas since rewards are better ... wasting a kit at graveyard or other lowbie areas just doesn't seem worth it.

Honestly I did a bunch of notes the other day and never had an issue such as the ones players are describing.
I cleared well over 40 nodes during a Profession event and never, not once, saw only junk items in the nodes.
What I think is more likely is that nodes aren't resetting so if players loot everything besides the "treasure items" then the next person to loot that node gets stuck with the junk left behind.

Yup, first noticed this when questing partied with a friend. If they got the chest first and left one item, the next person only gets that one item...skill nodes the same thing. Farmers especially tend to do this (not an accusation, I do it myself) if you're farming professional assets in, say, Blacklake and you're level 60 already you probably don't need that treasure worth 75 copper or the lesser potion of healing so why take it and fill up your inventory?

While it might be the case occasionally that it is just junk left behind by someone else, I don't think it is what is happening.
Here is what I have noticed. Before the balance patch this was never a major issue for me when I would farm lower level areas for lower level mats. Before the balance patch, I would never get items from the robe of useless items. It would also be things that are worth more than the items (75c vs 2c) from there and would fit the node I looted.
So I did a little testing this morning. I looted stuff until I started to get junk. At which point, I transferred my character over to the preview server and continued looting. Now due to the nature of the preview server, it is highly unlikely that someone else was running around looting nodes at this time of day, but I did check a couple zones just in case. Sure enough, every node I hit contained junk from the robe of useless items.
Now as for why you didn't hit the anti-farming mechanic. You probably weren't looting fasting enough to hit it. Were you fighting between nodes?

Thank you cryptic. Keep up the stellar work.
I farm at least 100 nodes a day and chest. I love to farm its a huge part of any game I play. Right now I have a cup of coffee farming. The key is to realize how the throttling back works. After about 15-20 nodes stop. Then I que for a PvP match. When I get out I go back to the 15-20 nodes and don't get junk. This is maximizing my time and still getting the joy of farming.

I regularly farm 40+ nodes without any mob interference, sometimes more. But I've never encountered this before. Really odd.

i would agree with this if the "junk" was at the area level of the node. finding a 2 copper shard of glass in an area that drops 6 silver treasure is not what you describe.

Hate to correct a moderator. This is a known problem that happens every day when I farm. Where I farm I am the only one farming the nodes. If I farm to fast. Then for 1-2 mins every nodes or chest or body after is. fishing pole, 10 copper followed by a glass shard 7 copper, followed by a broken glass 8 copper. Then after the Cool Down is over or as we call it now the THROTLING BACK. The nodes go back to normal and you can loot them properly. This has to do with speed not the amount of nodes you farm. My buddy gets junk faster and more often cause. He is a GWF. His run speed gets him THROTTLED BACK all the time. Shame really
