I was thinking of buying the wererat thief but I don't know if its worth the 200 drake seals. Will it serve me better than my cleric companion (im a CW?

I have the wererat thief at max rank (25) on my TR. I assume you are asking about its usefulness for soloing, as none of the non-augment companions are very useful for group pve.

I find that for just clearing random groups of mobs, my rank 15 healer is actually more useful, or at least as useful as the wererat. However, on boss fights or fights with multiple elites, the cleric dies too fast to be of any use. So that's when I swap in the wererat. The AoE effect, combined with my stealth ability makes the rat a useful agro dump in these situations. You have to be aware of when its about to use the AoE knock back, as it may knock your target out of range for that big hit you're lining up. But when managed properly, I find the knock back helpful in keeping mobs off me.

Is it worth the cost? You'd probably be better off with a Phoera. But I like the rpg-flavor that the rat adds.

Well it is a better quality companion, but since he's a striker he of course won't have any heals. IMO the best companions for leveling are tank and heal companions. Though anything with a stun or root can be helpful.

The problem with the Wererat is two-fold:
    *Her attack is very slow.
*Her attack knocks back all enemies it does connect with.

I really like her, but I don't know what class really works well with her. A Control Wizard probably would CC, kite, and nuke mobs so much that the Rat would hardly ever connect on a hit.
