So much whining about PvP and the real issue is the GEAR & Enchants at level 60 that off sets the balance.
So gear & enchants needs to be removed from PvP and all players items are changed to a base level 60 set when entering.
This will then make PvP an even playing field and everyone just plays their class how the dev's designed them.
I wouldn't mind that. As a cleric I fail to see why classes such as the mage get item sets that steal 5% from those attacked to be added to their defense every time a control power is used, but a cleric gets maybe a 10 to 15% chance every 45 seconds or so to get 4 seconds of equivalent bonuses. Its clear the devs favor some classes way over others. Again, from the clerics standpoint this game can go to hell.
There isn't going to be any balance between characters with the current enchant system, even in the same class.
No, this is boring. I hate games that equalize gear like that. It needs to make a difference.
I think a good compromise is to allow players to have an option of playing in PvP matches that include enchantment effects and matches that don't. The main problem isn't likely enchantments though, rather than only a couple classes seem to have any defense (clerics might as well go in without any armor on at all, they won't be killed any faster than they already are).
Are you suggesting that PvP kidds rennounce to show their E-peens? curse you!
I would play that pvp, but people who plays PvP dont really want skill, they want showboating... PvP comunity are a cancer to the MMOs, and i know it, i have a cancer.

OP, there is no point in leveling and offering PvP gear then. Sounds like you want a lobby that lets a person pick a pre-made class and enter PvP. Seems boring. You can eliminate 99% of the game if that was the case.

until level 60 very few bother with enchanting up their gear and PvP plays relatively even, at level 60 everyone gets gear sets and then enchants them way up, at this time character class imbalances become huge.... 99% of the game isn't at all true, its mostly only at level 60

It doesn't make any sense to just ignore gear for pvp. If you want something like that go play a FPS or something. You are missing the point. If you want an edge get better gear peroid. Quit trying to punish other players who take the time to get better equipped because you are too lazy or lack skills to get better equipment. If you can't cope with that, don't pvp, it's just not your thing. Deal with it.
I agree. At least have an option for equalized bgs at level cap so you can have some decent pvp. Even with good gear you still get owned or own in a couple of hits atm, its pretty boring. Would be nice to combine equalized bgs with a pvp ladder so you can get your e-peen on if that's your thing.
Its so sad. The pvp is so good in this game before level cap, the classes are reasonably balanced and fun to play, and then at level cap it all goes down the drain.
Smaller scale fights (2v2, 3v3) or a dueling system would be fine with equalized gear, or at the very least minimal "optional" gear routes. WCG COMPETITIVE NEVERWINTER, ANYONE? Ok so that's kind of far-fetched.
There are a few scenerios they could implement to make everyone happy, I will throw a few out.
Have PvP gear you earn that is better than PvE gear, have like 3 tiers. Put a stat like dmg vs. player on it, or resist dmg from players. the reasoning behind this is it would still allow PvE people to stack tene enchants for doing there PvE thing, but not have it be an advantage in PvP. and getting the tier 1 PvP gear might take you a week of getting your butt handed to you, but you could tolerate it knowing you will be better soon. Also PvE people can roll in and be effect against say tier 1 PvP gear, but loose to a tier 3 PvP player that knows what he is doing.
Or you could have ranked vs. unranked PvP. That way when you are new and broke, you can still PvP in unranked, and once you gear up, start queing for ranked matches. They would have to put in a mechanic for unranked that automatically put you in the tier 1 PvP gear and locked your gear from being changed. This one would be a win/win in my eyes.
I love PvP its why I play. If this happened I would quit this game and go to another to PvP. Just get the best gear and nuke stuff /thread
Haha, you love pvp but will quit if their is an actual competitive form of pvp? Wake up bro-you are a classic pver trying hard to pretend to be a pvper.

You don't love PvP, you love winning thanks to something else than skills. That's why you wouldn't find just "another PvP game", you'd find another one where you gear carries you.
@OP This game has awful pvp and will never be balanced because it isn't intended as an e-sport. And they make loads of money with people buying everything to "smash faces" easier. What saddens me is that the gameplay is actually more like an fps than an mmo, which would make a "no-gear" option quite interesting. But... money guys.
Simple solution is to stop making PVE gear better then pvp and fix it so that the pvp gear obtained by pvp is better then Stupid CN ****.
Also make it so you cannot buy pvp gear and can only earn it.
It's quite sad seeing absolute amateurs farming or buying the best gear then thinking they are good because you do 2k damage and they hit for 12.
Either way the gear doesn't provide too much help but it certainly is noticeable.
The Best PVP Guild on Dragon/Neverwinter: YoloOldSkoolSwagLoveNeverGingersLuvDupStep even if it's just one of us, you might as well just afk.

Well the problem with this idea is that obtaining pvp gear is FAR easier than doing a 40 minute to hour and a half dungeon run. Not only that but you can't afk or bot dungeon runs so if they were to make PVP gear = PVE gear then you know **** well that botters and afkers are going to come out of the wood work and you'll see no end to afking pvp matches.

That's why other games have PvP stats for PvP gear, so that using PvE gear in PvP will get you destroyed. Its the only way to fix it in this kind of game.

How are 3 second fights not boring? Being overpowered gear wise is lame. I would prefer they tone down the damage and introduce a PvP damage reduction stat on PvP gear so that its not a faceroll session. And this is coming from someone with well geared GWF and CW that usually gets 25+ kills in every match.

I strongly agree with you on the PVP damage reduction stat. PVE equipments should never exceed PVP equipments of the same level, when in PVP environment.

I think it is HAMSTER in games that have pvp gear that only works in pvp and pve gear that only works in pve. It forces players to have to hold onto an additional set which takes up valuable space. Not to mention that they are now having an event where there is both pve and pvp together and you want the equipment to only work for one? Just silly of an idea.

The OP is asking for everyone to have the same stats and long fights. However, you can't simply reduce damage as healing becomes OP and holding bases, which is the actual objective of the game, because trivial.
That said, I'll play along. If we made every player the same so gear didn't matter, what is the reward for PvP since you can't reward gear as it would cause inequality?
On one hand, I don't take Neverwinter's PvP seriously enough to care (it is great, but Neverwinter is at its roots a gear grind game). On the other hand, I would wholeheartedly support any ideas to make PvP gear either separate from PvE gear, or to mitigate or wholly remove the impact of gear in PvP.

Just wanted to respond to this point. Indeed, other loot-centric games do attempt this approach and it causes its own sea of problems. PvP "resilience" type stats mostly serve to drive a wedge between PvE and PvP, they reward people for time committed rather than anything to do with competence and they push PvE players out of dabbling in PvP. These may all arguably be "good" things, but who knows if they are where PW/Cryptic plans to take the game. Flattened or capped stats in PvP makes much more sense imo, if people enjoy PvP they probably don't do it for the "phat lewtz" the other approach is just one more way WoW wrecked the MMO community.

True..
But there should be matchmaking that doesnt put fresh ungeared lvl 60s with veteran fully geared/enchanted 60s..
Sure you can sometimes still win the game if the geared people are braindead/have bots or simply cant play at all.
But if 2 equally skilled teams meet, gear does matter quite a bit, especcially enchants, wich arent so easy to get unless you open the wallet or have been keen enough to exploit some dungeon runs and amount masses of AD,atleast not for most of the players.
And lets be honest here, who of the top geared "i steamroll everything" pvp players wants a challenge.. they enjoy steamrolling and earning rewards since its "fun".. Not my kind of pvp, from neither side of the coin..
Something has to be done about this issue thats certain, making gear pointless is not the way to go tho. Matchmaking that matches equally geared people together however should work better no?
Any thoughts about that?
Gear ranked PvP.
The rank you'll get in is based on the GS you got when you queue.
You'll use the gear you had when you queude and the inventory is locked during the fight.
More balanced PvP and you'll keep using your beloved gear.

Yup, exactly what I was thinking. Have 3 or 4 different tiers of end game PVP that are based on gear score. You can't game the system because your inventory locks while you are in a queue or while in the action. Problem solved.

Sorry but that doesn't work because some stats (power) have a massive affect on GS. So players that stack other game breaking PvP enchants will have a lower GS and destroy lower brackets with twinks. Plus classes have very different GS because GFs with Conqueror get 3k+ GS just from last feat.
So GS based system doesn't work and even harder to balance.
A simple fix is add a Buff/Debuff for PvP:
-50% Crt Chance (So all players have a 0% CRT Chance)
+25% Damage Reduction / CAP 75%
This removes a large portion of burst from players with high CRT & gives players a good boost to damage reduction.
