I don't think the Hero of the North Pack is a that good a deal, unless you are really into cosmetics of the Menzo Drow, Spider Mount and HotN Forum Title. You would be better off getting the Guardian pack, and perhaps getting some ZEN on special offer.

Yeah, I dont know why people throw 200 bucks at a game they have barely played or have never played. Never understood why people feel the need to buy the collectors edition of games. Ooo you get a fancy hat or a figurine and some neato titlle..maybe a special mount. Doesn't make your character more powerful than mine :)

For these free games, I give the devs my money based on my need and if the game is deserving of my hard earned income.

If the spider (and only the spider) is worth $200 to you, buy it.. Or if you're in role playing and *really* want your character coming from Menzoberranzan.. Otherwise you'll regret to have bought it.

The companion is dumb, the lv60 weapon you get is worthless t1 trash and the 2M AD aren't that much either.

The 12-slot bag is only useful to hold all the HAMSTER you get along with the pack..
Endless fireworks, the robe of useless items and dust of creation are nice stuff, but shouldn't affect your decision to buy it.

The only two things Id really like from that pack is the drow and maybe the spider. Drow definately though, they just look stud in any class.
Gah!

The closest I can come to is an half - orc.

Drow will be available to everyone in ~61 days.. The question that remains is, if they change the racial abilities for the non-exclusive Drow race.. I personally hope so, though its not nearly worth 200 bucks..

I have to say I am still mixed on this. Chances are, I would have went with the gaurdian pack and just bought extra zen if i had it to do over.

I did buy it to support the game, so i have to say that is still a valid reason, however, i could have gotten more value had i gone with the lesser pack and zen. I am hoping they will come out and toss us heros a bone to make up for the offering: Much of the real value is in the mounts, which they just reduced in price for the community. The 2 mill ad was not a great boon because the way zen market works (you will want to convert them to zen) and I would have received 2x the zen i did had i waited (but i assumed it would go up not down...)
The bag they give you is so small compared to the other bags you find and is not even as good as the best bag you can buy. Given how inventory is such an issue, i will probably toss the bag i got from the pack (unless i can transfer it to another toon) eventually because I would rather have a greater bag of holding (i had thought this would be a special bag...it is a very low value item)
and it looks like the free drow will be so simular, only the title will be different.

Again, I hope they do something to address this because the whole 700 dollars thing is soooo misleading.

My take on is, is that I use multiple characters, from now to the future when I create 1 or 10,000 characters I will always have starting items, and a guaranteed level 3 mount at 20, and a companion at starting levels, and the costume..

Only thing you don't have per character is obviously the Astral Diamonds, and the XP Boosts.

If you have to ask if it's worth buying, it probably isn't.

If you want to give Cryptic/PWE the money to support the game, then go for it. If you've got extra money burning a hole in your pocket and you can't think of any better use for it, then go for it. Any other reason, and there's a really good chance you're going to regret it.

This. It is worth it if you play multiple character. IF you are playing ONE, your 200$ will for further with one character than say.... 5-6

I opted to get it because I had money to spare (burn?) and being something of an altoholic it was going to save a massive amount of grinding to get a purple level mount at the prices being asked at the time amoungst other things. The pet cat isn't bad although it's skin never changes from panther and it has a nasty habit of doing nothing until a pounce as the last mob dies.

Spider is a unique looking mount although I suspect there may well end up being a variant in the store at somepoint down the road, similar to the race.

Worth is something you really have to decide for yourself and if you find yourself swithering about whether to get it or not you're probably best not doing so.

Better bet would be to either not bother and play the game as is, tbh the mount really isnt that vital as a lot of the zones are pretty small for a fast mount. Or if you want to buy into the game go for the guardian pack as you still get a mount and pet.

The bonus AD's can be spread across alts as long as you dont claim the whole lot at once but if you do that then make sure to remember you did if you decide to delete the character.

- I can't tell that the spider is *that* much faster than the $60 pack mount (armored horse).
- drow race, wait for it.

conclusion: $60 pack is a sweet deal for serious players (good mount on all characters, starting weapon turbos thru early levels for alts, reasonable AD for the $ spent, dog pet is nice for early levels, its a good deal). The $200 more to get a cosmetic mount... makes the mount $140 value. Not worth it.

My bad - i thought this only applied to the 5 slots you received with the pack. If it is every toon i ever make (i have 15 in DDO ) then this is worth it for me as i have severe alt-itis and will likely have a toon of every class and possibly a few for the racial flavor.

The weapon you get is a nice easy button to level 20. So again, as someone with alt-itis, it makes the bump to 20 that much less painful on the re-run (though they have done well with the class specific and racial quests)

There was definitely more advantage to purchasing it earlier than now.

For exclusives, you get access to the founder pack drow (I think the upcoming drow have some slight tweaks to it, to keep the founder pack ones exclusive, but I'm not sure), the armoured spider mount (a mount with good speed that is supposed to remain exclusive), a panther pet (which isn't all that great), extra character slots, $2 Million AD to give you a nice starting point with in game currency, a nice starting weapon, and an alright first end game weapon. The value of getting the starting high end weapon may increase, if a bind on pickup system is implemented.

You also get VIP access, which means you can bypass the login queue so you don't have to wait to play. However, there was only login queues near the early part of open beta for a few days, and since there have been none. That doesn't mean, though, that there will always be none. So, the value of this benefit varies highly due to circumstances that are unpredictable.

So, if you think the above is worth $200, get it. If not, don't.

collector edition is a thing, 200 euro for betatesting and some fluff on a game you don't know, is another. I personally buy collector edition if I truly love the franchise, not to show to others but because i like to support developers that provide me a good piece of entertainment. I did that with Mass effect and The Witcher, regretting a bit about mass effect while Cd projekt, I will basically trow money at them with a derp smile on my face.

For the current state of this game it is not worth to spend any money on it. Anyone who does it regrets it soon. The game is not finished, filled with bugs and if your $200 bucks account gets stolen/hacked you are going to wait 2-4 weeks for any help from Customer Support. But it is your decision.

For an altmaniac I think the $60 pack is a good deal. A tier 2 horse for every character and a purple pet for every character. Granted a crappy striker pet but at least it goes up to level 30 not 15. The extras from going to the $200 package are essentially cosmetic - spider instead of horse and panther (as I recall) instead of direwolf. Plus extra zen.

I agree with this 100%, it was definitely worth it just based on the mount per/character

You are incorrect in your assumption that it is regretted by all.

I do not regret it. The one I play with the most doesn't regret it. I have seen many posting on the forums that don't regret it. There is no doubt many that never post here that don't regret it.

Some do regret it to be sure, but some is not all.
