Can't make a companion idle

I have 2 companions, the free one from the quest and another common one I bought.

Both are level 15 and while I can do with the free one whatever I want, the new one won't go into the idle slots. Not from the companion page, not by right-clicking not by dragging.

Anyone has an idea why?
In case you find my grammar or spelling weird ---> native german speaker ;)

    I also can't get a companion into the Idle Slots...... I just got a skeletal dog (common) and he won't go into the Idle Slots.

    Well, I logged out and back in and the problem went away.....
