How many are there?
So far found 2.
1st the giant spider's cave at the Pirates' Skyhold and the troll one at the Icespire Peak. Both give a sidemission.
i've never found either of these, i'll have to go back and take a closer look. As well as keep an eye out for other such dens. What sections of the map are they in?
also, Scandinavia and the World = epic, Finland is by far my favorite ^^
KDF for Life! Romulan at Heart Fed cause they made me ~ :P
Other side missions include a drop from the Fel Trolls under bridges in Rothe valley.
A books gives a mission to return it to the Druid at the beginning of the area.

Those are the only two I know about. Of course, I learned about them from you.

Thought I'd post the "hidden" quests I've found here to help those who are completionists like me.
1. Tower District - I'll include this as hidden since it doesn't show up on your map. The bounty merchant outside the tavern has a quest for you if you talk to him. He gives you a quest to collect 5 bounties and then return them to him. Also, don't forget the beer quest inside the tavern and don't forget to jump into the hole at the top of the tower above the tavern for an achievement.
2. Tower District - At approximately 860, 702 on your map there is a book. Press 'f' to interact with the book and you are given a quest to find a rod, a staff and a wand. Follow the shiny path to each of the three items then turn in the quest for experience.
3. Blackdagger Ruins - There's no quest involved, but there is experience and some loot. At approximately 233, 519 on your map is Cragmire Barrow. Inside are some mobs and a couple of chests (one of which is a Mimic). Had been by it several times and always assumed a quest would send me back. Never has so I went in this time to explore and pillage.
4. Neverdeath Graveyard - A quest item called the "Lich's Phylactery" randomly drops from mobs. This quest item starts a short, and humorous, chain of quests which results in quest experience. I have run through the graveyard and not had this item drop, so you may need to kill more zombies and hulks until it does.
5. Vellosk - At approximately 3784, 2211 on your map is a pile of skulls (if I remember correctly). Clicking on the skulls invokes The Dark Hunter. You don't get a quest, but if you like to challenge yourself this mob will do that.
6. Pirate's Skyhold - There's a spider in a cave at approximately 1682, 2182 on your map. Enter the cave, defeat the spider and get a quest that you turn in for experience. There's also a lore item on a hill near this cave, a chest on another hill and a troll that sometimes spawns under the bridge.
7. Pirate's Skyhold - An item called "Herb Poultice" randomly drops from mobs, giving you a quest named "Nature's Bounty". Collect the required materials and turn in the quest for experience.
8. Pirate's Skyhold - Here comes the Judge. At approximately 2928, 2472 on your map, there is a mini-boss named the Judge. She's up on the deck of a destroyed boat. If you defeat her, you are rewarded with the Judge's gavel which you can then turn in for quest experience.
9. Pirate's Skyhold - An item called "Bag of Materials" drops from mobs, giving you the quest "Something To Build On." Collect the required materials and turn in the quest for experience.
10. Icespire Peak - There's a book on a tree stump at approximately 1946, 825 on your map. It gives you a quest, telling you to "follow the axes". Follow the axes to an alcove obscured by ice/rock "pillars". Inside this alcove is a ruby. Turn this ruby in for quest experience.
11. Icespire Peak - At approximately 3301, 1541 on your map, there is an Ice Golem named Ragefire Champion. Kill him and a quest item will drop that you can turn in for quest experience.
12. Icespire Peak - At approximately 3329, 1732 on your map, on a cliff, is a cave called Predator's Den. Inside are some trolls and an adventurer who met his demise within the cave. Recover the adventurer's journal and turn it in for quest experience.
13. Icespire Peak - In the NW part of the map, there is a giant named Skyrmir. Kill him and take his beard (gruesome ). Turn this beard in for quest experience.
14. The Chasm - In the Crystal Caves area, there are wandering rogues, fighters, clerics, etc... If you kill one of the rogues, a quest item will randomly drop called the "Thief's Ledger". This begins the quest "No Honor Among Thieves" where you seek out a hidden stash of stolen goods. Follow the glowing path to the loot.
15. Rothe Valley - If you kill the Fell Troll (I think that's what it was called) in the moat around the village, it drops an item that gives quest XP. (Hat tip to fellow guild member Contagion.)
16. Mount Hotenow - The Bounty Master at the beginning of the adventure zone has a quest to participate in the "Fire Catcher" event. This quest is bugged, however. Even if you participate, the quest cannot be turned in. I'm sure it will eventually be fixed so you can get some extra experience from this quest.
Exploring every bit of the map, climb every cliff you can jump into, that's how you found these
And ofcourse it means, sometimes you fall to your death when suddenly the ground isn't solid anymore, or you get stuck into a crack when you climb a mountain, find a hole, go in, jump down.
