Campaign: The Cursed Emerald
Quest: Weird of the Weather-witch
Author: mosby1
Short Code: NW-DEZAK4QPA
Type: Story, Combat, Horror
Dorian, a wealthy tradeship captain, is in need of help. When his ship's weather-witch tried on a strange emerald necklace from the cargo, things quickly took a turn for the worse. The ship was lost in a strange storm, but the captain survived. Now he is anxious for news of his crew, and wishes to recover his ship and cargo.
Your mission is to help Captain Dorian recover the emerald necklace... and to decide the fate of the weather-witch.
PLAYERS: 2 (easy for 3+; hard solo at higher levels)
DURATION: ~20 minutes
COMBAT: Moderate. Some encounters will be hard if you get surrounded.
DIALOGUE: Moderate, with skip options. Bartender Garnet's dialogue should amuse Monty Python fans.
EXPLORATION: Each map has at least one hidden [ACCOLADE] item to find. Talk to the DM at the end for more details about the story and these items.

This may be intended, but when shooting a flare, I would have imagined shooting it up. However, the beam was horizontal, shooting throughout the beach.
Captain's dog-like running on all four, while amusing, looks sort of odd. Even if he is wounded, I think he would be better off with a standard walking animation. Definitely just a personal preference, though.
The invisible wall in the caves (where you are supposed to take out archers first) was a baaad call. I fell down two times by accident (okay, the first one was just me exploring the map), and needed to leave map and go through it again, because you can't get back up!
There were a few grammar mistakes and typos I noticed, but nothing major. Would have to play through it for a second time to catch them all.
Overall, it was a nice experience and a well-done quest. I loved the pirate setting, and the interior of cave was just great! The beach felt a little bland, but well, you can't do much with a beach. Keep on!
The link for my quest's thread is in my sig. I'd love if you returned the favor and reviewed it, unlike some other authors offering 'trades'.

Yeah, it's pointing back to the captain. I was trying to draw your attention back that way, so you'd see him running towards you (and getting in trouble).
Yeah. I'm was trying to show him de-volving through a few stages (clothing, complexion, gestures, etc). The movement isn't what I was looking for (though I do like it at the very end). I changed the earlier stages to use the zombie animations, instead of the kobold/were-rat.
You can get around it actually, but you have to know which side. I added it at the last minute based on some other feedback. I agree though, I don't really want a wall there - I just want to discourage people from going down before going up. I got rid of it. Hopefully the body and the archers will be sufficient.
Done! Very enjoyable, looking forward to your next part!

I live 2 minutes from a place called Mosby, near Kristiansand, Norway... Was this colonel of Norwegian heritage by any chance?

A mysterious merchant hires you to dispose of four ghosts haunting a nearby castle. Enjoy this short adventure that pays homage to a classic arcade game. I'm sure you will be able to guess which one.
[EDIT] Tried today, but it was too hard for me to solo. Added some notes in your review thread, but I wasn't able to finish it, so I couldn't rate or review it.
[EDIT 2] Went back in with a friend, and finished it. Very fun for two players.

The combat wasn't too difficult, I managed it on my own as a level 30TR and a cleric companion. I'm off to try the DMs Studio now, looking forward to see what's in that.
If you get the chance I would appreciate it if you would take a look at either one of my quests, linked in my sig below. Thank you.

I'm not sure what's up with the ogre. I may have to move him to a different room I think.
I did intend to put more text into the log, but at the time, I couldn't figure out how to do that hehe.. I need to go back and add it in, now that I know how. Thanks for the reminder!

Very little to critique here, everything was well thought out and presented nicely. It might be a nice (if very minor) detail for the PC to tell the Captain he's found a cave they can go recover in, rather than just "Follow me'. There is a floating barrel just inside the cave - not sure it that was intentional or not. And the cave ogre was floating way up in the sky until I got right under him, when he "fell".
Been meaning to poke around the DM studio all week, will do that shortly. Great quest!

Good attention to detail, great environments, fun interactives (too few Foundry authors do stuff with that), definitely a 5 star.
Please make more.
Wicks and Things: NW-DI4FMZRR4 : The Fenwick merchant family has lost a caravan! Can you help?
Beggar's Hollow: NW-DR6YG4J2L : Someone, or something, has stolen away many of the Fenwicks' children! Can you find out what happened to them?
Into the Fen Wood: NW-DL89DRG7B : Enter the heart of the forest. Can you discover the secret of the Fen Wood?
I found it most interesting that I saw in there one, quite minor in the scheme of things, visual element (well a variation of it) that I have in my next release (if they ever fix the Foundry), its interesting to see how other Foundry Authors do things like that.

Added lots of text in the log book; it should fill in a few more details.
Thanks. I don't mind at all; help yourself! I did like the meat-smoker; that came out pretty well I thought.
Good idea, thanks; I improved that. Also fixed it so he actually follows now (not that it's far).

It's not often that I find a Foundry map that encourages me to explore optional areas of the map, but your environments were so beautiful -- especially the soggy caves -- that I wanted to see everything.
Combat seemed very balanced. I enjoyed the mechanic of pushing off the flaming debris, though I had already explored that area and killed the swarms of undead the hard way first. Heh...
The story was easy-to-follow, and I like the idea of ships carrying their own weather witches. I appreciated the Dungeon Master at the end explaining elements of the story (such as what was happening to poor Gunta while wearing the necklace... scary to think what might have happened if we didn't get to her in time...).
The declining health of the Captain was extremely well done and added a sense of urgency.
Thank you for a fun quest!!!
