End Game CW Itemization

So, this is for all of you endgame CW's who has capped most of their primary stats already.

Note: I'm FULL PVE, FULL CC. NO DEEPS

Here's the story.. I have/had an excess amount of Recovery, previously 6k Recovery with High Vizier Set and Lv7 Silvery Enchantments with full INT + WIS ability scores because I wanted to test how good/bad would that be for me. Sadly, it was horrible, barely noticeable even with 6k Recovery. Now, I'm currently using my own build (Oppressor) with 5300 Recovery, full WIS + CHA ability score; sitting at 49.5% Recharge, 40.1% AP Gain, 31.8% Crit < added this in for ****s n giggles. Now, from when I had 6k Recovery, and full INT + WIS I didn't notice anything "huge" from the 2 builds (stats wise and performance) Obviously, I'm loving my new current built as Oppressor and WIS + CHA.

Itemization Question - I tend to get TONS of aggro, even with a GF there taunting, those first pulls are almost always killer if you don't blink in time to dodge attacks. This had me thinking, wouldn't it be better if I went defensive on my Neck/Rings/Belt? I have more than enough Recovery to get rid of, so I think it'll be manageable, especially if it means that I'm getting more survivability by stacking some Rank7 defense gems, because now that DC doesn't get much aggro (mostly CW taking the hits) .... Discuss please <3 btw, if anyone is interested in an Oppressor build, I can put mine up.. it works for my playstyle and I love it.. I previously used the popular Renegade build and Thaumaturge build posted here in the forums and it all seems the SAME because I want CC, not DEEPS.

    What encounters do you use. Yeah post your build, would be cool to chat about.

    You should be able to CC well and DPS well, the two things are not mutually exclusive.

    @loose1, I use steal time, shield, repel, entangling force, icy terrain. most of the time i run EF on tab, with repel(or switch repel out with icy terrain, depending on dungeon/upcoming ads) then steal time and shield, Or i switch it up a little and put Repel on tab, with EF, steal time, and shield.

    here is a link to my current build, it is subject to change once I fully test some feats in oppressor, but they won't be major changes. Oppressor


    thanks for the reply @ lupita, but I strongly prefer not to bother with DPS at all. I'm about 90% sure I can out CC any CW that specs into DPS, live longer, and tank more than them. Completely fullfilling my playstyle. I'm not looking down/bashing on any other builds, they are all great builds and they all work, its just the playstyle that chooses what build works for them :)

    I just did some quick math on my gear, by switching my necklace, rings, and belt. I "will" lose only 386 recovery (from my already excessive 5342) so I reckon that wouldn't be any major loss at all, however, I gain 1017 defense, 462 deflection, and 1848 hp. What do you guys think about that?

    Yea defense is rather critical now. I'm sitting at 4800 recovery, 1800 def (boosts to 3150 with high vizer), and decent power/crit/armor pen. I use ancient necromancer rings for the extra defense instead of the more popular (and expensive) control rings.

    Seems to work pretty well.

    i'll post my new stats when i get home from work.. i switched to ancient rings/neck/belt for better stats that i need, whilst barely losing any recovery. HP sitting at 23,745, defense 2234 (before high vizier proc), recovery is 5,113, recharge 49.3%, ap gain 39.5%, damage resistance 34.6%, deflection 10.7%. these are what i remembered.

    You can both do DPS and bring needed amount of CC, for this you don't need high recovery.
    Voluntarily murdering your DPS is not what would make you a good CW.
    Infact, atleast passives like eye of the storm and storm spell kinda hint that you should do some DPS afterall.
