Why is my wizard auto spamming MM?

Just rolled this thing today, wanted to try out a caster. She just spams magic missle ad nauseum and I seem to be unable to cast anything else that I want unless I bind the ability to keypad instead of mouse.
So I've been searching and I found a couple of threads where someone asked and then got flamed and then all posters in the thread just flamed each other.

May I ask for someone to please clarify what this auto attack is about and why I cannot choose to cast anything else, without keybinding to keypad/board?

    Could be an issue with your mouse. Maybe the button is stuck down so it is auto firing. Otherwise no idea bud, good luck.

    My TR works fine <shrug> the mouse is wired and clean so I know it's not a hardware issue. I see there's an auto aim feature but the character like randomly decides to cast missle or bolt/beam. Is there a built in ai that does this? Because ti seems that all I have to do is walk around and the game fights for me, that can't be correct...?

    anyone else? Currently in that first little quest area in protector's enclave, tried to target a mob and she just cast MM again, I tried over and over to cast bolt and she would only cast the missile, this is very frustrating

    Just reset to default and don't keybind, apparently was the fix...thanks
