Uncommon item's overflow

I started playing NW when OB was released, I have enjoyed it a lot, specially the foundry. Although, one of the things that bother me about the game is that the so called uncommon items are not uncommon at all. After playing for half an hour or so, I have to go straight to the vendor because my backpacks are full of "uncommon" (green) items. Before that I sell the items I always check if one of them offer an improvement to my characters, if so I equip it, otherwise I just vendor it for a few silver or copper.

This bothers me not only because of having to clean the backpacks every few minutes, but because they are so common that I do not get excited at all when I get one of those items, because they are trash. Well, I know that the items that are meant to make us happy are the epics (purple) and maybe the rares (blue) too.

My point is, I am tired of farming green items. If the drop chance would be reduced I'd greatly appreciate it, it would not only let me keep playing without worrying about the backpack (which is probably what PWE wants because they sell backpacks for zen), but what would really matter for me is that it would make it worth it to loot an uncommon item, maybe not because of their stats but because of that they will feel uncommon.

Something not related to this topic that I would like to mention is that I enjoy it much more when the items get dropped from chests than from the actual mobs. Maybe you could look into that as well, because I have not seen many chests to loot in the dungeons.

+1 to this every time i make a trip to the vendor i end up selling 2-3 of the same items. These "uncommon" items are just too... common

...not sure I've ever seen a "give me less loot" thread before.

(Uncommon/Rare/etc, as in most games of the last decade, is an indication of quality rather than actual rarity. And yeah, green items tend to be either general personal upgrades or vendor trash. Nothing new there either. /shrug)

yeah but what really tickles my goat is that i find less "common" items than uncommon items.

That statement still misses the point of the problem. The problem is that finding an "uncommon" item should give some sort of thrill that it just doesn't have because there are too many. it doesn't feel like you have found anything cool when you find an uncommon item , it's just another item at that point.

Hmm. It may be "just another item", but considering how incredibly rare it is to find a blue (outside boss drops in dungeons), green is all you're going to expect. So I see them as meaningful & useful loot. /shrug

edit: I identify and check anything that the character I'm on can equip, as well as all the torso armor (to see if it's an interesting arrangement of armor variations, for one of my other alts to dress up with). Also don't have much in the way of bag problems - I stop by vendors with reasonable frequency, and mail all the enchants & runes to a couple of mules I leveled up.

Selling Greens is the main way you can build up enough Gold to buy the assorted Potions and Kits you want/need, at least at the lower levels. Eventually Leadership Crafting can give you a nice income, but selling the Greens is still the backbone of your Gold supply. Increase the sell price of Whites and maybe it would be workable. Otherwise you would pretty well bankrupt a LOT of players, Gold-wise.

Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. Therefore, he said, the only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.' Terry Pratchet The Thief Of Time

Another option would be to increase the price of the green items based on the reduction of the drop chance. ^^

    Anyone else feeling that way?

The only benefit from green drops is that we can sell them as trash for some gold. The game would be much better if the monsters would drop gems or materials for professions and then sell them for gold.

It feels like a senseless "uncommon" items overflow.

Explain to me, why would I get an uncommon item when killing a wolf? Stop this nonsense, it really kills the spirit of games like this.

I would rather see the vaule of the uncommon items go up and see less of them then to see 50,000 of them in a day and thier value be in the hole.

Hm....why are people complaining about drops...i mean u complain enough then they make it to where you get no drops at all then you will complain about that....if you dont like going to merchant alot then dont pick it up.For new players this is a good way to make income dont make them suffer because you are too lazy to either sell or trash it lol

I stopped picking up greens at around level 38. Not worth the inventory space or the cost in ID scrolls.

I've said it in a few other threads, but it's relevant here too.

I think the best way to deal with this is add a system that lets you disenchant/disassemble items to get enchants and/or crafting materials. That would create a sink for the abundance of green and even blue drops, as well as give them a purpose beyond being vendor trash. It would also raise the value of the ones that actually get sold in the AH.

    Edit:

Alternatively to just giving straight up enchants/crafting mats, disenchanting an item could give some other kind of resource that doesn't exist in the game yet. Call it "arcane dust" or whatever. Large enough quantities of this could then be used to improve the quality rating (+1, +2, etc) of existing items.

Right now, those +x ratings don't seem to have any mechanical meaning or purpose. They're just randomly present on some items and seem to just get higher with higher level requirement, without actually having any effect on the stats themselves.

meh , it's a pain having to visit vendors frequently but I'd prefer that to having no gold to buy pots with , to me greens and blues = health pots xD
