And I wouldn't doubt other classes had a chance at it too (just longer). The event is actually EASIER alone.
I discovered this on my first ever attempt at the Gray Wolf Den dungeon when i was the only one left up. Nothing sees invis and Ethraniev has no idle attacks so she just sits there looking confused. So, I took this info I gleaned and today I went in there with 100 healing potions at level 42.
Had some difficulty with the sub-bosses (and the 3 chest room which I died on the ambush spawn, my only other death from first try at the final boss), but only thing that consistently annoyed me was Scavengers who are absolutely awful to solo as a rogue. They easily stretched out how long it took me. I killed my last add roughly 4 hours after I entered.
Ultimately, I reached Ethraniev with 40 pots left. First attempt ended in a wipe right around when she turned into a wolf thanks to me unluckily getting knocked on my butt. Second attempt with the transforming out of the way wasn't without it's scary moments, I got knocked on my butt around 3-4 bars left, but juuusssst managed to roll away. It was ultimately harder to clear the leftover adds.
So, what did I learn?
1.) Shadow wolves in the fight hit for 400-700. They start hitting for a lot (4kish) when she does the Packmaster buff that enrages them.
2.) She does not seem to enrage the shadow wolves against one person. OR shadow wolves become enraged when someone is hit by one of her hand AEs. Either way, there's some sort of trigger that causes them to get the buff, and I wasn't triggering it by myself.
3.) Shadow wolves spawn when she hits someone with her melee (and possibly with her hand AEs). THIS INCLUDES COMPANIONS.
4.) Shadow wolves spawn if "Dodged!" pops up over your head if you barely dodge one of her attacks. I'm 99% sure of this in regards to melee. I'm not sure about her hand AEs or leap. It's probably more of a latency thing that's making them trigger and the code for spawning the wolves is higher priority than the game deciding you dodged in time or not.
5.) Nothing in the fight sees invis.
6.) Ethraniev has no idle attacks. She'll sit there confused just like trash if only a rogue is left and they're invis.
7.) Decoys DO NOT trigger shadow wolf spawns if hit. They DO get targeted by hand AE.
Video of her going down (dies at the 10:34 mark).Video of the failed first attempt.
(I apologize for the quality. I can't record via Fraps or whatever. My PC is ancient.)
Conclusions on how to play the fight with a group:
A.) A wizard or cleric should tank Ethraniev by kiting.
B.) Dismiss all companions before engaging.
That alone should make the fight far easier.
(and, obviously, no exploits were used. Although, some would argue rogues are an exploit!)
Comments
I mean yea nice job, but no..
Clerics and wizards are not good at this boss. He is not easily kitable as he has a ultrafast lunge that knocks you down.
This is one of the very few bosses in the game that one tank class is actually best at tanking in a group. (Guardian)
As guardians can block all of his attacks, and that prevents shadow wolves spawning. Plus dodging his hands/wolves is fairly difficult.. and your guaranteed to get those in a group.
I've done it at level on my guardian. 3 man actually since we went with 4, and 1 died immediately. Clr healed from up top, I tanked boss, rogue handled some adds and boss dps.
Im actually more impressed you manage to play this game at all at that kinda low framerate/rez heh, let alone well enough to solo a boss.

Characters (Dragon): Axer (60 Guardian, Leader of Crush It!), Controller (60 Wizard), Warlocker (60 Warlock)
dont know what i did wrong yesterday with my gf, when i blocked her she always spawns her dogs...so i just lure her to missing hits and tank her with ranged abilitys she is all about a controled fight, if you just focus on getting adds aggro and keep avoiding her melee hits she is easy
