Icespire Peak & killing the Rime Hound???

I have a level 48 Half-Ork, Great Weapons Fighter, I also use as a companion a Cleric Disciple..I am using all Level 48 gear, all rare, and all enchanted with level 5 ruin stones..

Until I reached Icespire Peak I had little trouble defeating the final "Boss" however in Icespire Peak there is the Rime Hound...

I have tried over the last few hours to kill it but cant seem to get it done.. I have tried a few tricks I learned along the way also.. like making it chase me to the room with the Red Traps that deal tremendous damage and using those to my advantage, No help.. They don't even phase the Rime Hound..

How in the world does someone kill the Rime Hound solo??

Any tips, or advice??

It's been a while since i did this boss but i remember the pain. probably the best example in the game of why the gwf sucks for solo/pve.

    If i remember correctly:
If the hound gets you or your companion with it's cone, it spawns adds. so get rid of your cleric before the fight

    the basic idea is -
eat the big spiky attack while in unstoppable
interrupt the cone attack with roar or takedown
    save your slam for adds
    pot like mad
punishing charge seems useful but it tended to get me into more trouble than it was worth
    hack away at the bastige
    repeat ad nausem

It's a long fight regardless of how you do it because our single target damage sucks

    best of luck :)

Thanks.. I am going now to try that.. I was wondering why it kept spawning off a new add ..

It worked like a charm. Without my cleric there was no adds and i did lure it into the room with the traps and they really helped me out. Worst boss so far but this made the fight take super short time.
I also played a Gwf and i was lvl 49 or so. The spikes really hurt it if you can keep it on them and they are supereffective on the adds as well. ;)

I also had a lot of trouble with the Hound, mainly because of the infinite add spawns. I followed the advice I found on a forum to lure it into the previous room, and that worked. The adds only spawn in the Hound's room, so they won't aggro.

AAHH... so that's where they come from! It was very hard for my TR, had to drag the fight across multiple rooms. But my GWF just ran around and went unstoppable when there was red on the ground.
