Unofficial chat filter petition

So, a couple of days ago I read the big patch notes, and I was thrilled. Congratulations guys at PWE, it sounds really appealing, etc. etc. Really, it does. The thing is, there's something I would like "fixed". It is working as intended, it's just that it's intention is well... over the top.

I'm talking about the chat filter of course. Perhaps it's just a nuisance, but I don't like having to hope that everybody has it disabled in order to talk. Especially when RPing, in the setting of Neverwinter, it would not be uncommon (or even frowned upon) for words like "*******" (which could well refer to the sword by the way) or "****". The latter is particularly common, and it was hard to believe that it was censored.

My point is, in this game there are talks about savages torturing people to death (Vellosk), there are monsters wanting to chop us to little pieces... I have noticed more particular examples but I can't recall them right now... Anyway, this game isn't meant to be friendly to 5-year-olds, and banning the use of "****" won't make it so.

Also, a final point would be that I might well be saying "****" or something similar in character, but when people see "*HAMSTER(", they're free to interpret it as they will, and believe me, there are far worse four-letter words than "****".

EDIT: Now I see they're censored on the forum too. Well, not going to break any rules, use your imagination people.

I Completely understand where you are coming from with this statement. and yes the system can be flawed however, I see it as a necessary evil, I always turn chat filters off for many reason but who am I to decide if others find swearing offensive or whatever reason it may be to want the filter on.

If the filter was mandatory and we couldn't chose what we see, then I would feel this would need to be addressed.

    Thanks Odin

I... understand and respect your opinion. To be honest, it doesn't sound all that bad after this...

Anyway, just stating that I never meant for it to be disabled, just toned down, and also that I'm concerned about others not having disabled it even if I have (see my first post's last paragraph).

Chat filtering is a choice easy to turn off.. and I think Rp'ers know very well how to turn it off. Filtering is tricky area opinion varies and heated debates can be had as to what may or may not be swearing/offensive etc. An agressive filter with an off button is preferable to a "I think this words ok so lets not filter it" where oh where could that end lol :D
