SO did I read it right - I must be in a guild to play in the GYM? I haven't had to be in a guild for 6 years of playing. I don't want to be in a guild yet now I must? Bad enough my 60 has sat the past 3 weeks - now he's retired. What a waste.

    Do gyms have guilds now?

Is that some kind of workout LARPing?

Yes you read it right, you must be in a guild that has aligned itself to one of the two factions.

I see this going badly ... one faction will be over represented, this will make queue times worse for that faction. Just hope there is a method that will allow your guild to betray to the other faction.

Yeah, this one has me scratching my head as well. Not sure what exactly they're trying to accomplish, other than get more people to join guilds? If they were to tell us the reasoning behind it, maybe it would make more sense, but why potentially alienate a likely not-insignificant portion of your playerbase?
