Keeping characters after preview

So after the preview shard trial is over, will the characters that we copied and any other new character be saved and will we have the option to move them back to the normal shards?

    Yeah but will the progress made in the new shard be kept? I know that the original shard characters will not be modified in any way

    This is your standard test shard. Anything on that shard is subject to a wipe at any time.
    Some games will keep your progress. Other may wipe in between versions.

    EDIT: Either way it doesn't really matter since you can just copy from live if they decide to wipe.

    Characters might be saved for subsequent Previews.
    I would expect to just re-copy the most recent versions from Live.
    Copying characters from Preview to Live would almost certainly never happen.
