vaam3 - GF is a tanky DPS class that can taunt and turn a bad situation around. With a "good" GF in your group, you'll have a high success rate.
Gimmick teams are weak to situations and have a high rate of failure and why you see so many whiners on forums about not completing runs. There are 5 classes for a reason.
It's pretty sad that I see Rogue's tanking in most instances. Maybe it's just because GF aggro isn't where it needs to be, but the fact that the Rogue can tank at all has got to be exceedingly painful as a GF. Can't match Rogue tanking, can't match Rogue damage, can't really do much of anything at all.
That being said, I've seen some amazing GF that do tons of damage in an instance. I imagine they beat crappy rogues on occasion, and with a team that knows how to concentrate mobs for a GF to hit multiple mobs it can be a powerhouse, but what are the odd's of finding a team that knows how to concentrate and kill mobs? I'd say roughly 10-15% of PUG groups understand this.
Personally, I'd rather not have a GF in my team simply because GF seem to believe all thier little knockbacks somehow help. They don't. It makes it harder for literally every DPS class to burn the mob. Unless there's some reason to knock them, like an interrupt or send them off a cliff, FFS don't use your knockbacks.

Playing a GF is like playing Alistar in LOL, you can troll your own team and most inexperienced players do.
The only time you should be knocking targets away is to protect your team, CC Target or add a damage buff as some targets can't be knocked back.

I am aware of those facts, and yes GF can quite definitely troll their team with knock back. It's one of the myriad reasons why no one at all wants them in a group. At least when CW do it they destroy entire groups of add's, a GF just annoys both the mobs and the party.

I think every group should have to have a GF and DC in a group. At least how it should be when you que. They should be there and needed. You need a tank and a healer. Rest should be doing dps and this should be the makeup of every single dungeon raid period if that's not how it is then PvE is broke till it is. Now I do say this as mainly a PvPer and a GF. I do PvE with guild only when they say hey wanna do a DD. I just don't que for pugs cause I expect to see a DC there and every pug que should have that basic makeup. GF/DC rest dps.
When you que you should have to select. Tank/healer/dps Then the system should take it from there and make up a proper group.
The real reason rogues can tank is simple. Movement. Not only do they get to dodge, but one of their main feats increases their movement for avoiding those red circles. GF's? They get block which won't keep them alive in red circles for hardly any time at all. Even worse, some of the animations are so slow that if you start moving when the boss circles you, you may not make it out of the circle in time.
Give GFs all the threat in the world, it won't matter if they're dead in red, and block doesn't keep them alive in that as it stands.

But don't blame the class, blame the player.
