I have been a Cryptic City of Heroes fan since City of Heroes.
The one thing I've loved about their games is the fact that you can go to a tailor and customize your appearance, with a vast character creator.
So when I created my character and saw that my "medium" hair clipped with all of the rogue collars, I thought, "It's cool. I'll just go to the tailor and change my hair. There has to be a tailor. It's a Cryptic game. They practically invented the tailor/barber."
Well, I found the Tower of Alteration... and then I saw the cost. 200 Zen to change my appearance? I would understand if it was Zen or Astral Diamonds, but $2 to do something that I've done literally hundreds of times in City of Heroes and STO is really disconcerting.
I have high hopes for Neverwinter, but I hope that this, among many other things are reconsidered. I get that this is a fully F2P model, but the F2P industry is founded on options. If you want an exchange economy (like GW2), then consolidate your currencies. It's bad enough all of us Founders had to find out that our currency wasn't for the "real" cash shop, but now we're finding that road blocks like this.
I'm starting to worry that this game wasn't founded on the same values that have made other Cryptic games so great and that's disappointing, because there are so many great things about this game.
I think the reason why there is all these zen options is because...well you can trade AD for Zen, which no one is doing atm because everyone has AD. I figure about a month into open beta there will be LOTS of people selling their Zen for AD.

Yeah, but for quality of life stuff like this, there should be an Astral Diamond payment option for cases like this (or any other time that the exchange market is out of whack).
Actually, I wonder why even use Zen or AD at all.
In CO, changes to the appearance at the Tailer are paid with ingame currency. So why not here? Just because NWO has lesser options in that regard or why?

well CO isn't full f2p.
but I agree, I don't want to spend a crapload of AD for zen if I just want to change my hair/beard/markings....
It need to be like CO. On a scaling system. One or two changes should be easy and cheap. The more changes you make should increase the cost to the point that if you change yourself significantly the zen option would be a cheaper alternitive.
Tweeking would be painless. But major changes would function pretty much the same.
