YA account was hacked WTF

went on this morning no problem went to go on tonite nope cant get on check my emails and ya new password warning and using a different computer warning i did a check not too long ago didnt have anything than and havent downloaded anything else i know this has happened alot and am wondering if the other people who got hacked got their accounts back some how or wat happened should i just quit cuz im not putting the time and 50$ i put in for random purchases.

    You should put in a request to support about it, but don't expect a response soon.

    Could probably make a new account, level to 60, and get full t2 before he got a reply to his ticket.
    Use the <removed exploit lead-in> to interact with the auction vendor.

    i did only luckily i never logged off of site and hacker never logged off of site so im still able to go on forums and post a ticket was the first thing i did was just hoping some one who was hacked has gotten an awnser and hopefully their account back

    ok so awesome thing just happened i figured id try the forgot your password thing on launcher aparently the hacker wasnt able to change email cuz all my pass's are diff just logged onto laptop and changed pass so now does any body know of a really good free anti virus that may find something the kapersky didnt

    maybe for some but im no kiddie and unless my step kids have been on downloading stuff (which is forbidden but still happens) i havent downloaded anything since this game and its updates but either way hoping that now that pass's have been changed on a different computer that i can find this thing and get rid of it before i start typing more pass's on this comp

    2 words - fix (because this is happeneing more and more it seems like) & wipe (this is why games wipe before they go live, to ensure that all the problems of beta are fixed and you start with a fair playing field).
    Sorry this happened to you (many of us have been there)- do try to tell tech support and be as detailed as possible as to what happened.

    Umm WOW isnt there a ToS issue here. I guess people really dont believe PWE cares anymore.

    Depending on where your e-mail is hosted, it may not be anything on your computer at all.

    If you use something like Hotmail or Yahoo, or some of the other web-based hosts for your account, then that may have been what was hacked, not anything on your computer.

    If you use one of those services, changing your password there will generally stop future issues of this nature.

    TL;DR
    Not every case of having a game account is an infection on your computer.
    It could be that your e-mail was compromised.

    You gave in and wanted to buy AD from the AD farmers huh? They stole your account and now you want to try to get it back. That's what you get for trying to take the short cut.

    If it happens that's probably what it was. All they had to do is go to the wrong site. They don't even have to download anything. Going to the wrong site it can be stealthily put on your computer without anyone knowing with no alerts. Opening the wrong emails can do it too.

    None of the free are better than a paid Antivirus, but you need an Internet Security suit instead of just Antivirus.

    I can recommend F-Secure Internet Security.

    if you got hacked, don't bother with cs people have tickets in from launch supposedly who keep having them closed and with no response saying it's even being looked into. just do a chargeback or payment dispute, move the few folders oyu need preserved so long as they are not in any of the app data area, I mean like game saves in 'my documents' or desktop folders oyu made and trust ect, use/burn something like active boot disk kill the windows partition, use it's partition manager, make a new partition in it's place & reinstall windows & be sure to find & use programs that scan the spaces between partitions for anything left over form certain kinds of rootkits that like to embed <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> in those areas to hide form wipes and reinstallations. then grab a software that can create virtual machines, in the VM grab some cheap AD, which would net you about 3x the zen in exchange anyways most likely, you're paying the epxloiters one way or another at least get more in return for it and when getting the ad log into the game on windows, only do the website and correspondence through the virtual machine and an email created through a free vpn on that virtual machine and have it logged in before you go to the site (although many programs can grab your sessions and stored even temp stored passes from your browsers & programs though the VM would have the session of the new fake meaila ccount) then on windows do the trade to a new mule account so that they do not have your @name (its different than your login but if you want to feel safer, you can do this) and you can also log into the game for the ah ad grab through a DIFFERENT vm but thats overkill once its all done remove and delete the VM and uninstall the vm software unless you have other uses for it like creating infections to post elsewhere on the web in which case you should use ssl proxies or tor when it works and target other nw users and share the joy then at the end of the day your problem is solved and tada you're happy again and you don't feel as jerked
