Hey guys still new to the game and about and I made a Cleric as my first character. Level 29 and right now doing the dungeons isn't bad; however, when it comes to healing a single person is there a way just to select that person without healing anyone else on accident. They always seem to run in front of my heals so I heal someone who shouldn't need it.
Also, I notice my Cleric pulls agro like crazy on some of the last boss fights. Should I be aiming at making my guy defensive so I can handle these situations without having to run away and let my team mates try to hit them.
At level 29 your options are kinda limited. Clerics really start to shine with AS (Astral Shield) which is obtained at 51+.
There are alot of different opinions on how to gear as a cleric, bottom line its going to come down to who you play with and what classes your grouped with. If your going to run a static group with a CW you can trust, you dont really need a great deal of mitigation stats since your CW should be controlling anything thats going for you. If however you intend to pug alot, my advice would be to gear to take the punishment you'll no doubt be getting.
In either situation recovery is our most important stat. After that either gear for additional heals / DPS (Crit / Power / etc) or gear defense stats (Defense / regen / deflect)
There are some good guides on the forums here that you should take a look at that discuss cleric gearing. Suffice to say they are mostly aimed at level 60 once you have access to your full talent / spell load outs.
Lower levels I basically geared for as much DPS as I could to burn through quests and used pots to heal myself. In Partys I threw out what healing I could and avoided mobs as best I could. Remember other classes dont have access to all thier abilitys at lower levels too. The -40% self healing just makes trying to self heal as you quest worthless (IMO) until you get AS. DPS your heart out and use pots, you'll chew through mobs much faster. In group situations, hope for a group that peels for you, but dont count on it. Life gets better at the higher levels so push on through !!!
As for picking out a single target, there is a target lock function. Its set to ctrl by default, mousing over someone and holding down ctrl will ensure all your spells target that person / mob. You can remap this with the bind command.
/bind <key> +HardTargetLock
You can also change it to a toggle with the ++HardTargetLock command. For example I have it on mouse button 5 as a toggle,

Is there a command that could bind the divininty key [default: TAB]? I would love to be able to bind it so that it was NOT a toggle, therefore when I hold down TAB divinity is on and when I release it is goes off straight away. That would save me from so many accidental divine at-will mistakes.

Something like:
/bind TAB +DivinityMode
if that exists. Anyone know the command?
I cant seem to find the command to make it activate on press only. Its +classSpecialPower, but setting it as + (Activate) or ++ (Toggle) results in the same. Cant seem to get it to work as an *on press only* command. Seems that its coded as a toggle, your either in Divinity or not. The Client does not allow you to edit commands in depth, like *on press* and *on release*
Hopefully if there is a way someone will answer this thread though !
"Every time I type this in chat it does nothing? "
It should have formatted the command. If you wander upto someone and target them, then middle click, you should aquire target lock. Try moving around ... your cursor should stay rooted on your target until you re-click the middle mouse button to turn the toggle off.
Doh, sorry I am an idiot, I wrote out the wrong command.
/bind Mbutton ++HardTargetLock, Will edit above post too. My bad.

Wish I had a sweet mouse where I could just do what you did, lol.

/bind Mclick ++HardTargetLock <--- wrong command.
/bind Mbutton ++HardTargetLock <---- Correct command.
That will bind your Mouse Middle Button to a target lock toggle. I've not yet found a way to bind a scroll function to it
<Edit> Corrected command line, sorry I'm an idiot
