For those who read the books the names on the topic are easy to find out who they are.

My question is... since this game is somewhat a century after the last book of Drizzt Do'Urden, are they still alive? Most probably since they are long lived but... will we find this two or any other known character like them in this game?

I see them every time I log in and look around. Along with Drizzt, Bruenor, Legolas, Raistlin, etc..

    :P

Jokes aside, I was surprised I didn't see Jarlaxle in game as the Neverwinter Campaign Setting kind of upped the profile of B.D. in the city.

The Drow can live for 1000 years so its possible. http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Drow

However there is suspicion that Drizzt was killed by Dahlia because he said he didnt love her.
In The Last Threshold he was presumably mortally wounded [more than likely dying in the last pages of the book] by the hand of Dahlia, his former lover, after Drizzt announced he no longer loved her and decided they should go their separate ways.

The D&D 4e Neverwinter Campaign Guide recommends that those folks are kept "offstage", as they would tend to overshadow player actions. I suspect we'll interact with them eventually, but it'll be in the Epic tier, which we're only dipping our toes into as player characters. Level 60 in this game is essentially Level 20 in 4e, the end of the Paragon tier.

Pretty much also during the time we are in all of the New Companions are pretty much asleep in a pocket dimension, that was done deliberately. There are mentions though, if you go to the Moonstone mas and are a Drow someone will ask if you know Drizzt, there are or were some mention of the companions in the Gauntlagrym quest, but Drizzt and Artemis won't be sending you on missions any time soon.

If you wanted to avoid putting them in your story as a central figure, you could always hint at them being invovled or use them in some kind of cameo role.(e.g. maybe as an advisor or mentor).

I'm not much of a 4e player (i still prefer the 3.5) in any case :P i do believe that bringing some of the companions, at least jarlaxle and his "brigade" would be nice. For me and all others who read and play D&D that would be captivating and fun

hah! haven't played as a Drow so i missed that NPC quote so far, still that at least gives me hope that since the characters are not completly away from the story we are following in the game, therefor it points to a chance of having some contact with these characters in the future.

This is not correct. *** spoiler alert beware *** The majority of Salvatore's Neverwinter series takes place about 2 decades before the game. The game takes place in 1479 DR. The events of the latest book (The Last Threshold) have Drizzt, Dahlia, Entreri, Afrenfere, Ambergris, and Effron fall asleep in 1466 DR, and they do not wake up until 1484 DR, 5 years after the events of the Neverwinter game. Because of this it is highly unlikely that we will see Drizzt at all in the Neverwinter game, though it's possible we might run into Jarlaxle.

I doubt they will get the rights to make any type of storyline for these characters as Wizards has a huge investment in these characters already, and Salvatore wrote in the prologue for this series of books, that he specifically wrote in and around Neverwinter to set the stage for the game. You see quite a few storylines already being brought to light in the game that he did the initial writing for.... Valindra and Gauntlgrym being two of them. Also I believe that this isnt set a century after the books but rather a decade or so. Proof being that Gauntlgrym has been left unexplored and the Delzoun haven't made attempts to reclaim it, that and the repeated use of the ashen zombies and Primordial Elementals left unchecked, as seen throughout the Neverwinter series. If we are really lucky maybe we'll see a cameo in Gauntlgrym around Bruenor's grave. I doubt we would see more than that this early in the games development.

    Yup!

Jarlaxle, Athrogate, Kimmuriel, Tiago, Gromph, and maybe even Pwent are all possible :)

I just can't see him living (unliving?) like that...not Pwent, I'm pretty sure he is going to do what he told Drizzt he was going to do.

Based on the fact that we didn't specifically get to see what he ended up doing makes me sure his story isn't over yet. Salvatore is notorious for leaving loose threads like these in his books so he can come back to them later. I'm sure we'll find out in the next series :)

Ye hope so, Pwent was a real nice character and one of the most dutyful ones towerd his king! And i agree that since there is no reference to know id he really did what he told to Drizzt, there is still hope for Pwent
