Let's hope for the sake of PvP that Cryptic does not forget..

To nerf Guardian Fighters. 3 Prones. Each last 3 seconds. Always fun to be shut down for 9 seconds.

But Control Wizards are the problem with their 1 second Entangling.. right?

    Rock, paper, scissors...

If you are spending that much time on your back from just 1 player, then they can't really do much to help their team if they are focusing on you, right? So where is your team or are you rushing off somewhere and get picked out as a result?

GF's can't do that much harm to most targets in PvP, and by the use of spending 3 powers to make someone prone means a lot less dps options afterwards. It sounds like they are meant to CC foes and let their team take them out. Learn some strategy and work with your team to counter.

Cryptic keeps having to discover the wheel again and again.

Many games have come before and discovered that players don’t like some things globally, none of them like these things.

Players don’t like quests that they can start but can’t finish.
Players don’t like mechanics that allows players to cheat other players.
-And most salient to this discussion -
Players don’t like laying on the ground in PVP. (or being oneshotted)

I guess the takeaway point to all this is that players want to do something in PVP, they want a chance to take some sort of action. Even assuming that the character never had a chance, was nowhere near geared or skilled enough to beat their target, having a fight that involves some sort of interaction between the characters is preferable to a one-sided mauling.

Yes, I hear you, if they are not ready to face me then I ought to beat them, fine yes, I get that. But put your pugnacious hats aside for just a moment and put on a designer hat. Your job is to make combat fun and exciting for everyone, not just CWs and Rogues.

With that in mind, does it seem like a good idea that some characterc are getting CCed right out of the fight, never having a chance to even return fire, or oneshotted with the same result? At least with CWs there is a chance to trade a few blows. And as a designer I would hope that you would want that for your PVP. A chance to trade blows no matter what you brought to the fight. Victory goes to the best geared and the most skilled (horses aside), but certainly everyone should get a chance to mix it up.

And this has always been the conclusion of games with developers who cared anything about PVP. CC gets nerfed until it becomes a non issue and PVP become frenetic and twitchtastic. I can’t say that is the greatest solution but I can guarantee that laying your characters out for almost ten seconds in PVP is a recipe for “why bother”.

But don’t take my word for it Devs, look around. Just like in the X-files…

    The truth is out there.

P.S. Irony of ironies, these design concepts were, to my knowledge, espoused so succinctly by the original design team of City of Heroes. That’s old school Cryptic, ladies and gents. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

You don't need to be prone to be out of the fight, CW have plenty of abilities that completely remove someone from the fight as well which can be used at range. Guardians have to waddle over to each target if their abilities are on cooldown, which can be countered by walking away. Get back to me when guardians have an ability that immobilizes anyone they want from the safety of range.

If you think CC is bad as a CW, try playing any melee character that on top of being unable to do anything, is surrounded by enemies and immediately killed. At least you have a fair chance at escape when you're fighting from range.

CC in general in this game is just horrible for PvP. It works for PvE, so I don't know that I want them HAMSTER with it and breaking it there, but it's not a problem caused by one class.

Awesome image! I love it! Doing the guardian waddle. I sense a new dance emote coming!

Each prone hitting me for 5k is not much harm? I see. How do i strategize versus a ranged knock back that is instant? By beeing afk?
