What do you need an epic mount for?

Hi guys,
as prices of heavy inferno nightmare & heavy twilight nightmare are slowly but surely going down I'm nearly able to buy one of these for around 1 million AD (give or take several hundreds). I was a bit looking forward to it but recently I have honestly asked myself what would I need 110% speed fancy mount for?

It looks good but I'm not this kind of guys who likes standing in PE for hours showing off. I don't do PvP much either. PvP seems to be the only reasonable use of such mounts (faster base capturing), which leads me to my point: Game lacks large end-game grinding areas where we can just ride through much faster and (if this was a pvp environment) much safer. It is just standing in PE waiting for a queue to dungeon. I don't need ANY mount to do this.

Have you guys some other reasons to have fancy/better mounts? Maybe I am missing something.

Only reason is PvP, besides that It's convenience.

As for the Lvl 60 Grinding area I see Gauntlgrym as the prime candidate. Rhix is already teasing us with things to do there for AD's. I'm betting that Gaunt will be the lvl 60 Area to Farm, PvP, Grind. A fast mount could very well be useful, time will tell.

I don't need a mount. I can buy it, but why would I do that? It's not like NW has vast areas to ride through.

I have been using the 5 Gold Permanent Horse and I'm happy with it. Neverwinter is heavily Instance Zone and it not open world, don't really need Mount really. The 5 Gold Permanent Horse will get you to anywhere just fine. There is no way I put down $40 for a mount, but that is just me.

I do move sometimes between the mailbox and vendor. Just thought speed is irrelevant in such short distance :D

Back & forth between the mailbox and the campfire/knox is obnoxious. Anything to reduce that is nice. (that said, I just bought the $5 mount. Across 7-8 characters, that's saved me a good bit of gold. If I ever get a T3 mount, it'll be with zen saved up in-game.)

To buy one or not is an individual decision, because value is subjective what is stupid are the idiots who have to give folks who have them or other cash shop items grief about it in game, honestly who gives a HAMSTER?

When combined with 600,000 AD, a handful of levelling conveniences, and a purple quality striker pet, the fast mount was more than worth the sixty dollars(basically "bought" the game). A full speed mount is a noticeable increase over the standard 50% ones(I was using rentals when I bought the pack).

Shelling out 2/3 of that for a different one, however............tough sell for me, though to each their own. It really is just a convenience and look cool thing.

I would say, however, that it'd be a solid thing to consider with zen purchased through the exchange over a period of time. The quality of life increase is very much on par with more inventory space and the like.

I could never go back to the 50% speed mounts. Not after buying the $30 black wolf that goes at 80% speed!

I almost bought a $40 110% speed mount, but I didn't like the armor on the wolf! A plain armorless black wolf looked so much more awesome than the armored wolf. :( Which sucks, cause I would of paid $40 for an armorless black wolf and 110% riding speed.

Anyways, back to the topic. These mounts are awesome because:

    1) It makes levelling alts so much faster.

    2) They look nicer. Some players don't care if they play an ugly and boring-to-look-at character, but I do, and the wolf mount is EPIC! The model, the animations, the sounds it makes, it's the coolest looking mount I ever owned in a MMORPG! You have no idea how sick and tired I am of the WoW wolf mounts. They are so blocky, their animations are bad and it makes'em look too "robotic" and fake. NW's wolf mount is nicer and it's animations are top-notch next-gen!

    3) I support Cryptic by buying it. What's $30 to $40 anyways? So many people spend $60 on games that don't last more than 10 hours worth of gameplay, and this game has lasted me over 60 hours by now! $30 for a huge RPG like NW is peanuts!

i don't think you're missing anything. It's fast and looks cool. That's pretty much it.

My spider mount is 110% speed and is really nice to go zooming around on, but it's not really necessary. It's convenient.

I'm trying to get an inferno for one of my alts just for the looks.

the inferno is for ONE character . The zen ones are for all characters on your account .
The last two maps the 110% are nice , to not keep getting knocked off . The fire mountain is very agro heavy . takes 5 hits to be knocked off , where a green mount is only 3 .

Need? No. Nice to have? Definitely. Try outrunning mobs on the 5 gold horse and chances are you'll be fighting a lot of mobs since respawns in this game are fast and you'll get knocked off the horse fairly often. Not really a big deal until the last couple zones like Icespire where it's a long run from the end of the zone back to the beginning. With the faster mounts by the time the enemies react, if they even do at all, you're already pretty much out of range.

You can ride an epic mount closer to mobs without aggroing them than you can on a lesser mount.
