So, earlier today someone made a thread asking me for an answer regarding Determination. Which, by the way, very flattering but please don't ever title your threads like that again. = ) Thanks.
Anyway, to elaborate... I record pretty much every major quest and a lot, not all, dungeons in game. The big ones. You know the ones. I do this so I can review footage later for mistakes made, things I can improve on but more importantly to review combat logs. You learn a lot from that stuff but I digress.
I was checking out some footage and checking logs to get a better handle on how Determination worked so I could formulate a more educated answer for that poster and his question. Well WHILE I was doing this I remembered another poster who asked me about Regen a little while ago. I tried finding the post but apparently I post too d@mn much because I couldn't find it.
So... to Mr. Mystery poster who asked me how well regen worked and whom I in turn promised to post a video illustrating how well it worked... this is for you. My bad. I try to follow up on requests as soon as I can but I must have gotten distracted.
The Video
I chose Shadowfire Chasm because A.) it was one of the few times that I almost died, B.) I always saw a lot of people in the zone, whilst I was there, asking for groups for this quest because apparently it was supposed to be super hard... it wasn't... and C.) it happened to be the video I was watching when your request zinged right back into my head.
A few things to note:
For anyone curious about how well Regen works... well take a look for yourself. And that's with pretty low Regen going. No, I don't make a habit of posting threads with videos or builds or that jazz. Normally I just leave it in the thread requested or PM the guy directly. I genuinely couldn't find the darned poster though...

1.) Yes, I pretty much always have my combat log open.
2.) No, I don't slot potions. It's part of my process of becoming better at whatever class it is I play. I do this for pretty much all games. I will slot them for raids but I get so used to not having them I forget I have them half the time. = )
3.) Yes, that Giant scared the <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> out of me. LOL. I totally wasn't expecting to turn around and have my screen filled with a Fire Giant.
4.) I'm almost positive... but not 100%... that I had roughtly 7 or 8% regen going. Looking at the numbers that seems about right. If I also remember correctly all my gear was green unslotted Regen/ArP and my cat was sporting full ArP.
5.) Yes, I'm addicted to spacebar. DON'T JUDGE ME!!1!

I've wondered about this myself, but my first character (a tank) is being built kind of like an invulnerable tank in City of Heroes if you're familiar with that game. Lots of hit points and resistance. I only have one power with regen as a bonus for using it, but it's a daily. I'm also beefing up with quite a bit of deflection in my gear recently, just because it feels right for the character and I'm having good results. Haven't died yet, anyway. I'd say that's a good result.

up untill this moment,i have been dismissing regen gear that i find,and feeding it to the merchants.
i can see now that i will be re-thinking this strategy.
on a side note,this is one of the most informative game posts about game machanics that i have seen out here
and i hope that maybe in the future you might post info on more of these "side powers"..many of them are vague in their descriptions
and seem hard to understand example- "alacrity" ...wtf is that?..lol.
