Spiral Staircases

Does anybody know whereabouts the Spiral staircases that're used in The Cloak Tower are in the foundry? I scanned over every room but couldn't find them.

Thanks

Paddy

They don't exist. Technically, there's one room that has a spiral staircase in it somewhere, however you can not connect rooms at multiple levels and make a dungeon that actually goes up or down (there's no stairs rooms either). You can make a dungeon entirely out of pieces, but it's more for show than practical.

Hm, that's a bit HAMSTER, I remember them saying a while ago that you could make anything the devs could make in the foundry!

But this is just "open beta..." :)

In all seriousness, just because something is not in the foundry at this moment does not mean it will never be in there. Just as they can add elements to the core game, they can add them to the Foundry...

How about instead of "WAHHHHH!!! There are no spiral stairs rooms!" we try this:

"Hey Cryptic? Would it be possible to get some spiral stairs rooms added to the Foundry?"

Does it really hurt to be polite and just ASK for stuff? Do we always have to scream about it not being there and trying to make the devs out to be liars?
I'm not really a John Galt,
but I play one on the forums...

Well, that's simply not true. The list of things the game has that the Foundry doesn't is long.

I just spent like more than 2hours mucking around, finding basic things on google and videos, I felt that nah, this must be my dubmness that I can't make:

Stairs and different level of corridors connect.
How the hell I could add windows to Dungeon corridors

Well, now I just click exit and I get back to the foundry, when I can do an appropriate story map, not a stupid cutout.

On the quest I'm working on I created an indoor staircase using lots of platforms/walls/pillars/stairs from details and combining them with the 2 story dungeon room (the pit I believe it's called) It doesn't "spiral" as in ascending/descending in a circle, but it does look like a stairwell (like in a building or tower) I used a teleporter to enter it and ... well I'll just show it to you and you'll see what I mean. (it's not finished btw, still need to add more details and lighting)

    entrance.jpg

    ^ Entrance

    stair1.jpg

    ^ Once you enter

    stair2.jpg

^ Going up flights of stairs

    stair3.jpg

    ^ Reach the top

That door at the end will exit you into an outdoor map when I'm finished.

Using your imagination I'm sure you can come up with some custom indoor environments like this one, since Cryptic doesn't seem to care much about improving the Foundry and probably won't for awhile you gotta use your imagination to create work-a-rounds in the meantime.

BTW you don't have to use the pit room to create a staircase, you could use any room with a high ceiling. (I think the big caves have pretty high ceilings) You just have to block off what you don't want them to see using details. (The ceiling, the walls, the floor)

You could create "windows" in the same fashion by using a big interior room, changing it so it looks to be apart of the dungeon you're making and cutting off apart of it and designing the "outside" to look however you want. You can place trees, etc inside the big room but outside of where the player can walk to make it look like it's outdoors. Though creating a fake sky.... that's all you lol. (i'm sure there's some way to do it using details but not 100%)

The amount of tricks you can come up with using teleporters and details is pretty amazing.

The world is full of people who say "I can't do it" then walk away.

Then there are the ones in the history books.

Lol, true, but still in the history books. Back OT: Find a large empty outdoor map and build your dreams.

You just have to get creative. I created a four level house with teleporters and fake stairs in my latest quest. I also used an outdoor map and made interior rooms on it. It isn't that hard once you spend some time with it.
