If you put stuff on the AH from a Auctioneer its 10%

Yup, it is a shipping and handling charge by the auction house guild for your convenience.
Just econ.drain. You have to have sinks to compensate for the stuff that's being created on a daily basis. it's how you keep the economy stable. Or something.
I just know that MMOs tend to have moneysinks built in. Places for gold/plat/whatever to just...disappear.
The tradehouse cut is still 10% even if you place the item on the AH from afar, don't know if this is a bug or the way its supposed to work. The posting fee, however, is higher from away from the AH physical location, but you get the posting fee back when the item sells, but if you don't think your item will sell then I would suggest only placing items on the AH from the actual location.

Oh that is cute. A shipping and handling fee for using the convenience of the menu item. That is actually cool. You can take the time to go back to the enclave or you can take a 2% cost for doing it from where ever you happen to be. That is just a neat solution to that.
